New Joiners - Landscapes #610

May 2022

Crowd and
Expert winner

This is a wonderful image, I love the eerie feeling it has. You've done a lovely job of the processing, it looks menacing and dark, yet still inviting. The mist has helped you massively here, it really adds to the atmosphere. I'm glad you scaled a fence to get your shot, it was well worth it and I'm happy to give it the number one slot!

Welcome to Photocrowd’s ‘Landscapes’ contest for New Joiners! These contests are a chance for new members to introduce their photography to the community, and get a taste of how Photocrowd contests work. They can be entered by anyone within their first 28 days of joining Photocrowd. After 100 images have been submitted the contest closes and the Crowd will start rating the images. The Expert Judge will also be judging the images and writing reviews at the same time. All the winners, both Crowd and Expert, will be announced after 3 days of judging. Make sure you also check out our two other New Joiners contests - ‘People’ and ‘Animals’.

This is awesome! I'm not usually a fan of abstract stuff, and had it not been for the inclusion of the boy and his dog I'd probably have dismissed it. However, they really make the picture work. Really nice job :)

Nice and contrasty, a decent black and white conversion always trumps a washed-out greyscale! The sky is maybe a little dark at the top though, I'd try to balance it a little by lifting the shadows so they're not completely black.

I love the perspective in this, tilting the camera up to look up into the canopy has created an awesome effect with the converging verticals. It's exposed well and looks nice and sharp. Can't really ask for much more! Nice job.
