This is quite the image, very nicely balanced and has some amazing details to be seen. For me, I would have liked to have seen a bit more detail in the tree itself as it does look as if the image is a tad soft, I am unsure if you shot this using a tripod or not. I also like the grouping of the 3 trees in the shot, 2 standing 1 fallen, I would have liked to have seen a tad more space on the right-hand side of the frame and the end of that last tree as it seems like it was squeezed into the frame, but saying that I don't know if you had you back against something and were as far back as could be. Very well taken and thank you for entering with this.

This image popped right out when I was looking through all the others, it could be any park in any country and I like that feeling from a bit of work. The framing is very nice with the use of the large tree and the people for a sense of scale, but a few other considerations to take image making further would be to either get more or none of the hedge in the bottom left of the frame and also the exposure I believe could come down a tiny bit as it seems quite bright from where the people stand up to the top of the frame, other than that really well done indeed.

This image is really really strong, it is rich in details on the mountains and also in the building, but the one thing that has unfortunately caught my eye is the tree pocking in from the left of the frame. A bit of TLC in photoshop, or preferably getting the composition arranged so it is not in the image would make this a far stronger image. Apart from that this is a really well-exposed and taken image

I just love this type of image, it reminds me of Durness in the far north of Scotland. You have done very well to capture a lot of the details in the sand and the rocks but what works best with the image has to be those stunning blues and golds in the sky that have been caught in the water as well.

Yet another worthy top 10 image, a nice composition with the foreground being set with the rocks and some nice spacing in between them so you can see all the details of them. The 2-minute exposure has also worked well for the shot too as it has blended the sky to make it look nice and dreamy, just the way I like to see long exposures.

Another really nice and different image from the majority that was submitted, I like the variety of colours and the depth within the shot itself. It is good the highlights on the water whites have not been blown out as this would have been very distracting. One thing that may be worth looking into is the branch from the tree that is pocking into the frame on the left of the frame as I find that distracting against all the other green ones that do work well.

Another good image that caught my eye as I was working through the shots. I love the detail of the foreground but I find the blurred trees due to the mixture of the focal range and the aperture a little too much, I think from looking at them, they would have had some great details on them with the ice but it is very hard to make out, as a result, I find it hard not to keep staring at that part instead of the detail-rich and glorious foreground. That being said, the landscape element in the image is there and I really like it, very well done.

A classic shot for the landscape portfolio, but what caught my eye with this was the fact it was shot on a mobile phone, it sums up the old saying of the best camera is the one you have on you. I also really like how well you have managed to preserve the highlights in this as well as keep it detail-rich when you had to crop it, really well done indeed.

I like this, sometimes it is not about the massive vista or that golden hour light, but more about the moment we live in. With this shot, it is a great reminder of how quickly the weather can turn and make for shooting conditions that are not all that great, but on the same foot, it is always worth giving it a go. Out of curiosity have you thought about maybe converting this to black and white to see how it works then

Expert winner

As soon as I saw this image while looking through the images I knew we were onto a winner, with the mixture of strong composition, being detail-rich and containing some amazing tones it just jumped out at me. Then when you really start looking into the image you start to spot the mist on the water and the light catching it at the far end of the loch, I just love this.

Another really good image from the selection that we had It is always amazing when images communicate with you and in this instance, I can feel the challenge of trying to get the shot in the cold, I can hear the crunch in the snow as you walk and that is done well, you also sense the isolation from the location with there not being anything else in the frame than the mountains, water and trees, a very well throughout composition that has paid of well.

I really liked this image from when I 1st saw it, you got the most amazing sunset along with a fine balance of light on the ground along with the sky, no blown-out highlights have also made the shot one to be proud of. In order to just tidy it up a bit, what looks like a building on the horizon on the left of the frame could do with not being there as I find it a little distracting as it pokes out of the horizon, but that is just 1 tiny detail in a really nice image.

WOW, just so many things I just love about the image. That sky is just crazy and I bet it made you smile the whole time while capturing it. Then there is the scale of everything, with your position in the frame and the use of the centre of the road, you start to feel intimidated by the size of the cloud rolling over the top of you. A shot that would look amazing in any portfolio.

This image at a quick glance really jumped out to me when I was skimming through the entries, I really like the consideration for the composition and how you have caught those pools of light and those are really really strong elements of landscape photography. I noticed your comment about having to work in high wind and I can see the image has become a little bit soft as a result, it can be tough shooting in the elements but well done for still making it look ok too. It can be worth trying to find compositions that work that give you a little wind cover or you acting as a wind break for the camera, but again, very well captured.

This is a really good image, at 1st I thought it was from the northern circle, but your added text really does make you go WOW. The shot itself is rich in detail and also your exposure seems to have been correct, I can only imagine how tricky it was to get the balance of those correct, so very well done for achieving this result with that.
