Wonderfully snowy image that uses all the elements to create a compelling composition. The weather is rather atmospheric with the low cloud drifting off the top of the snowy peaks catching the side light that is providing some definition between the highlights and the shadows. Although I think it is a barrel in the bottom left, it rather looks like a little hut and adds a sense of scale to the composition. Lovely wintery scene which makes me long for snow.
Interesting perspective which is made better by the autumnal colours that punctuate the scene below and the small line of mist drifting through the sky. The light that is coming in from the left is delicious, catching on the buildings and the foliage alike. There’s plenty of interest through the many layers of urban and rural scenery.
This is a classic sunset image that demonstrates why the golden hour is such a lure for photographers. The golden colours near the horizon with the last embers of the sun disappearing and the clouds above catching the light, reflecting back warm tones. The portrait orientation works well, with a significant amount given to the clouds as they tower over the beach before. The lone silhouetted figure adds a sense of scale, drawfedby the sky above. Nicely seen and captured.
This is an image of many layers, all of which work together to create a really rather enjoyable final scene. The foreground of grasses and layers in the landscape gives way to woodland and hills, clouds and the lovely sun flares beyond. The square composition works really well, and everything sits really nicely into the frame. It demonstrates an understanding of how to create compelling and effective compositions.
The mountains are rather dramatic in this image with the bright snow contrasting with the dark tones of the scree slopes. This in turn contrasts with the blue sky above. However the part of this image that works well is the s-curve built in to the scene leading the eye into the heart of the image. Nicely done.
This is an intriguing image that looks like it could have been taken on a completely different planet and demonstrates the diversity of the landscape both in Iceland and beyond. The steam rising from the volcanic landscape is dramatic and impressive, and the person walking across the landscape adds a sense of scale and focus to the composition.
What drew me to this image is the inherent sense of movement and narrative that you’ve captured, mainly in the form of that crashing wave. It is the conclusion to story that begins further back in the image with the waves further out to sea, seconds from arriving in the same spot as the one that has broken over the shoreline. The grey, moody sky works well, contrasting with the blues of the water. The horizon is a little off and could easily be corrected in post for maximum effect.
This was a stand out image for me when looking through this batch of new joiner images. The light is gorgeous and you’ve managed the sun star and flare by using the trunk of the trees effectively and yet allowed enough of the glow through to enrich the grasses in the foreground. The silhouette of the trees dominates the scene, framed by the cumulous clouds above. Nicely seen and captured.

It’s hard to tell whether these trees are in their autumn or spring foliage, by that low, golden light is really catching on the colours and encouraging a dramatic feel to the scene. The reflection works well, with the bridge creating a nice leading line through the heart of the image. The hint of mist on the right had side catching the light of the sun is a nice addition to the composition. A demonstration that beauty can be found in all kinds of places.
This is a really nice example of waterfall photography that makes the most of the unique colours around the edge of the water. The warm colours of the stone in the foreground, like the colours of the Arizona desert. This contrasts with the green foliage above. Those bold colours really make the scene pop and the long exposure works well to add some movement to the scene.
A simple, yet effective image demonstrating the beauty that can come after the sun has sunk below the horizon, leaving only lines of colour and cloud in it’s wake. The cloud structure are interesting, with some contrails intersecting the high cloud and the contrast between the warmth in the sky and cool blue tones of the sea. The silhouette of the buoy gives the image an anchor point and it’s positioning demonstrates an understanding of composition. Good work.
