New Joiners - Landscapes #679

March 2023

A nice image, with a simple composition that works nicely. It's maybe a little flat but with a bit of work with the tone curve I think you could boost the contrast a bit and the colours. I thought this was the Alps at first, it has a similar look!

This is a great composition and I think with some soft morning or afternoon light it could be a fantastic location. With an overcast sky like this you're fighting against dark shadows so have ended up with a halo around the stack.

What a gorgeous photo, there's nothing I don't like about this. The water movement is really nice, it's sharp all the way through and the colours are fantastic. I like the processing as well, and the vignette really adds to the mood.

A nice refreshing take on the Vestrahorn, it's good to see it in a bit more detail. I love the tufts of grass in the black sand and it contrasts really well with the snow on the mountains. The sky looks good too, just the right amount of cloud!

This is a really cool shot, I'm always blown away when I see shots of this castle as it just looks magnificent perched on the hill. The only criticism I have is it may have benefitted from a slight crop from the left to remove the tree thats poking into the shot.

I really like this, the soft winter light on the mountains looks great. I'd maybe look to crop this into a letterbox format, removing the tiny bit of land in the very bottom left and some of the sky as I think it'd work better and have more impact.

Compositionally this is really nice, I love that you've included the canoe for scale too. It's well exposed and has nice colours, I do think it looks a little flat though it might be worth while playing with the tone curve to reintroduce some black to give it a bit more contrast :)

I like this as a composition, it's nice and simple and shows off the mountains well. I'd have shot it at a more narrow aperture to ensure front to back sharpness as there's quite a distance between the foreground and the peaks. Also, the blues are very deep, I'd maybe look to lighten them :)

This has bags of atmosphere! Forest photography is a difficult skill and one that I'm not good at, this looks incredible! The fog really gives an eerie feel to the image and the path leading straight up the middle is a nice lead in through the shot.

This is a beautiful image! I really like the composition, there's a lot going on but it doesn't look cluttered. The colours are great and it's processed really nicely. You've got no halos or fringing or anything it just looks really nice and clean. I'd have this on my wall all day long. Well worth the win!

This just makes me want to go for a walk here, it's a really simple image but there's something about it that just makes me happy. I wanna know whats around the corner. I'm always impressed by mobile phone shots nowadays too, this one's no exception :)

This is my kinda scene, I love shots like this. I'm always drawn to mountain photography and this ones decent! As you say, the water leading you in works well and the overall composition is pleasing. It's balanced, exposed well and sharp all the way through what more can you ask for!

I'm not very good at woodland photography, I can't see compositions and always feel like the shots are imbalanced, but I'm a big fan of this type of photography and really enjoy the images. I like the balance in this, the trees are framed nicely and the colours are beautiful. Nice job :)

I love this bold composition, it's not a traditional landscape but it works really well. I like the black and white conversion too, it has loads of depth and it's nice and contrasty. The vignette really adds to it too, helping to guide your eyes along the bridge.
