New Joiners - Landscapes #749

November 2023

Thank you very much for entering this competition with us, the scene is really nice and there's some great colors within the image too. Things to watch though I'm making sure the focus is nice and sharp and also be careful with the uploaded file as it looks like there's some color banding in the sky to.

Thank you very much for entering this image into the competition, it's a really worthy winner. I love the soft tones, the rich details in the grass, and the river snaking through from the foreground to the middle of the shot. You've managed to preserve the highlights and the sky and in the water ensure they don't blow out as to not too distract the eye too much. These are really good characteristics of the shot and show the technical skillset applied in the composition.

I really enjoyed this image when I was scrolling through the selection. It has some good aspects to it such as being detailed rich on the trees and also the sand preserving a lot of interesting features to. A little room from improvement would be the tree on the far right hand side of the frame, just ensuring that's completely in the shot as it seems to be just touching the edge, which is pulling the eye away from some of the other details, but all in a really nice balance photo, thank you very much for sharing.

This image sit out really well it's got some fantastic layers to it and then the person stood on top of the Rock just giving it a really nice perspective as well. The details are rich throughout this shop and the tones are preserved very well too you can see some of the details in the rocks that are three layers back this is really well done. The portion of mountains versus sky also works even though there's not much going on in the sky but the edit that you've given has held to make this balance out very well.

Thank you very much for entering this photo in the competition. It's a nice scene, but a few areas to look into improving would be the focus, ensuring that that's set on something solid, maybe on the green Moss in the foreground would be a good place to look at for that, then just be careful of those trees such as the one on the left hand side which is just a little black sludge in the frame it'll be good to have had that either all the way in or all the way out of the shot.

A really nice rolling hills image, I just love this and I love the Shadows being created by the clouds and the sky on the valley below you and some on the mountains in the distance too. The details are rich throughout the shot from the forground to the back of the mountains, and the sky is preserved very well too. Thank you very much for sharing this image

Thank you very much for entering this image in the competition great to see your interpretation of this classic. For me the composition feels a little bit squished with the people just on the left-hand side of the frame and then the building on the right hand side of the frame to, allowing a little bit of extra space will help the image feel a lot more balanced.

I find this image technically very interesting, I like that there's no blown out highlights and it also has no shadows that are also lost either. The horizons nice and solid and everything including the grasses and the foreground a nice and sharp. The only thing to consider changing slightly is the grass tuft in the front of the image I find a little bit distracting as it's partially cut off but I don't know what's in front of that which may made you have made the decision to take the composition as you have. All in, a really great image and thank you very much for entering into the competition.

Thank you very much for entering the competition with this image, it has a good structure to it such as using the gates and the trees to frame the image, I also like that you've managed to preserve the details a little bit in those parts of the shot. The slight distraction in the frame is the burning sun in the middle which overpowers everything else, it's always worth considering the composition where the sun is slightly off the frame and use the golden light from the sun to illuminate parts of the shot, or wait until the sun's just dropped down a little bit more on the horizon.

A really nice composition with some beautiful tones in the sky that have been reflected back onto the buildings and the water and even the rocks in the foreground, the details are rich in all aspects of the shot and this helps make the image stand out. A little thing maybe just to watch is the angle the camera is shooting at as it appears that you may have been tilting the camera down or up a little bit, as this has created a slight extra tilt on the shot, a little bit of distortion on the left and the right to of the frame this has been exaggerated by this little bit of tilt to but nonetheless a really nice image and thank you very much for entering it in the competition.

Thank you very much for sharing this interesting composition with us, it's nice to see this scene in this late afternoon sun. I like how you've managed to capture the highlights hitting off the buildings and the trees and even a little bit on the water. The cloud preserved in the sky at this extra bit of punch to making it feel like a bit of a cold winter scene. Thank you very much for entering the competition.

I really like the strength in the composition on this image, the cloud running all over the top of the hills is good and also the fact you've got the tree just framing the left of the shot. The aspect ratio works great, as it's well suited for landscapes like this. You mention that you've removed a couple of houses on the left and the right of the foreground and this looks like it's a good decision to do as they may have distracted the shot, I like the image as you presented it, very well done.

Really warming photo with some beautiful tones, I like the highlights on the edge of the sand showcasing the little ripples that are then lost in the shadows, then you've also preserved the sky and those beautiful golden tones in that as well. The person in the frame also add another little bit to it or telling the story of somebody just enjoying this nice empty beach. Thank you very much for entering the competition.

A detailed rich image with some beautiful tones spanning across the vista, images like this catch the eye really well. Some lovely use of the Shadows from the lower light at sunset and I just looks amazing. I like how you have nicely managed to get the sky to go across the whole shot at the top of the frame and then you get the stepping down of the top of the ridge at the back of the shot, a nice consideration you put in there.
