Even though this is taken on an iPhone 6 that would be considered old tech now, there is still plenty to enjoy about this image. Sometimes images are about composition and subject matter and sometimes they are just about capturing a moment. This is the latter and in that sense the quality of the camera doesn't matter as much. The sunset in this image is absolutely fabulous and it must have been amazing to witness. I like the inclusion of the boat to provide scale. However, the image could be immediately improved by straightening the horizon which would make the scene even more powerful.

This is a fantastic astro-landscape that demonstrates skill and understanding of composition. Your subject matter is powerful, using the single long tree in the middle of the lake as a focal point and positioning the frame so the Milky Way seemingly appears right behind. For a shot taken at night, the colours are wonderful, from the turquoise hues of the water to the corresponding greens of the tree. The portrait orientation works well, ensuring our attention is focussed on the main elements of the frame and the detail in the starry night sky is really rather wonderful. A fabulous landscape of which you should feel proud. Thank you for sharing.

I love the powerful simplicity of this image. Ostensibly there are only a few elements in the frame, including the silhouetted mountains, the low sun and the mist that is drifting across the foreground. However, what you've doe with these elements is where this image really comes alive. Your composition is spot on, placing the sun in the middle of the frame so it's always where the eye ends up. You've done well to control the highlights as it can be tricky shooting directly into the sun. The lowkey editing really adds a touch of magic, and the negative space above the sun works well. A powerful image full of mystery, thank you for sharing.

I'm a huge fan of mornings like this one. I love fog and the way it can impact on images, especially when the sun begins to burn through and make itself known. The fog is one thing, but it's still the photographer's job to create an interesting composition and you've done a good job with this particular frame. I like that the wintery, silhouetted trees are marching backwards into the fog. They create a nice diagonal line and the green of the glass compliments the blue of the sky. One of those images that proves that the best camera is the one you have on you.

Some images are less about the technical capabilities of a camera and more about capturing a beautiful moment and your image definitely falls into that category. Although you were unable to control any of the technical aspects such as ISO, aperture etc., you still captured the essence of the morning with the sun breaking through and illuminating the rain drops. It's an atmospheric moment and you've done well with the composition. Thanks for sharing.

There is something eternally fascinating and intriguing about the sea and it's always a pleasure to see images that capture some of that mood and atmosphere. This is a superb example of how to capture the ferocity and power of water in one single frame. The use of a fast shutter speed ensures the moment the wave begins to crest is captured and fixed. The side light helps, illuminating the sea spray in minute detail. What I really like about this image is the repetition of patterns between the wave and the cloud. The crest of the wave is almost exactly replicated by the cumulous cloud above. The monochrome processing works well, ensuring we're not distracted by any colour infractions and overall this is a superb example of seascape photography.

Woodland photography is probably one of the hardest genres under the umbrella of 'landscape photography' because you're trying to find order in chaos and it takes a really good understanding of composition to do it well. You've done a good job and taming the chaotic woodland in this frame, helped by the portrait orientation. The two big tree trunks on either side help to bookend the composition and the pathway through the middle leads the eye through the frame. The light that is dappled on the foliage is lovely and elevates the scene. You've done well to work with the light and chaos. Thanks for sharing.

There is something about this image that gives it the feel of a pencil drawing or some other fine art work. The fact that it was taken on an iPhone may well contribute to this, and it also demonstrates that some images are more about the moment that they capture than anything else. The square frame is a bold choice and helps to keep everything in its right place in the composition. The light on the far mountains is lovely, providing some depth and quality to the frame. Although this is a landscape competition, sometimes the inclusion of an animal or human in the image helps to provide scale and context. This is lovely example of this, with the colours of the animal in the foreground complimenting the hues of the mountains in the distance. I've just noticed that the lake is frozen, which is a nice detail. One of those images that reveals more the more you look at it.

I've seen many images of this canyon and they always make me want to take a closer look and enjoy the vibrant colours and textures. What I like about your rendition of this popular location is the heart shape that you've found in the natural erosion. It really makes the composition pop, helped by the contrast in highlights and shadows created from the light sneaking down from the top of the canyon. I can imagine this is a place that you could spend days just exploring, finding new compositions, shapes and interesting features. Nicely seen and captured.

A popular location and for good reason. Kirkjufell really does capture the imagination of landscape photographers. It helps that it isn't just the mountain but the nearby waterfall that refines the composition. I love the colour in the sky that you've captured in this image, with hints of pink and orange complimenting the turquoise hues in the water below. I like that subtle processing that you've gone with and the composition that you've chosen. Nicely done.

There is plenty to enjoy about this image. The panoramic aspect ratio works well, with the sand bank leading the eye to the low sun in the sky. The lack of cloud cover isn't too much of an issue as there isn't a huge amount of sky in the image and the reflection in the still water works really well, adding interest and atmosphere. The only issue with the composition is the boat on the far left because there is not enough room between the end of the boat and the edge of the frame which ends up making the composition feel a little uncomfortable. Allowing for a little room between subject matter and the end of the frame would make for a better composition. Otherwise, an atmospheric image that demonstrates the power of a good sunset. Thanks for sharing.

There is a lot going on in this image. I like the shape created by the tide and the sea, it creates an s-curve and leads the eye to the trees in the background. There is a sense of the weather changing and the palm trees are catching the wind, frozen in motion. The clouds are forming and the light is breaking through, shafting onto the landscape in the distance. This is an image that demonstrates that still imagery can still convey a sense of movement and energy. Thanks for sharing.

A powerful image that is helped by your elevated position. It feels like we're on equal footing with the distant mountain and therefore get to take in all the different layers from the dark foreground, the textured mid-ground, the snowy peak and the layer of light breaking through the low cloud. A powerful scene that demonstrates how incredible the natural world can be. I like the layers created by the clouds that seem to intersect through different parts of the composition. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think I've seen an in image of Mount Fuji in autumn before. Often it's photographed in spring with the blossom providing a pink colour palette so it's nice to see it represented a little differently with the rich tones of autumnal complimenting the colours in the sky.

Japan is on my list to visit and images like this demonstrate why. The iconic shape of Mt Fuji dominates the frame, catching the side light of a low sun which is also highlighting part of the woodland. The scarf of cloud drifting across the middle of the image really adds some atmosphere. A powerful image, thanks for sharing.

I love a good wintery scene and this image definitely ticks that box. I actually like that the sky is overcast and there is no light visible in the frame. It evens out the tonality and lets the viewer concentrate on the subject matter. The grey sky seems fitting and compliments the frozen ground and sense of gloom. The composition works well with the main tree taking centre stage. The composition could be immediately improved by cropping out the branches that are sneaking into the right of the frame as they distract and pull the eye from the composition. Nicely done, thanks for sharing.
