A really nicely taken image, composition is balanced really nicely on the left and right-hand side, the details are so sharp which is really great with the cactus in the foreground, then you've got this beautiful red light and then the milky way behind that as well. Everything in the shot flows very well, thank you very much for entering the competition

Another really nice image that was entered in this competition, I like the concept with three balloons and the bit of reflection in the water full stop where there's room for improvement is a lot the details are lost in the trees the mountains and even in the reads on the edge of the water. Ensuring these are nice and sharp will help add to your photography.

This is a really nice detail and colour rich image, I love the fact this has been captured on a mobile phone as it really strengthens to saying, the best camera is the one that you have. The strength in your composition with the building being on the right on the hill and then with your view running through the valley to the snow capped mountains is great. Very nice work indeed

Really beautiful coastal image, I like the sweeping beach with the grass as growing in the dunes leading you all the way through the image. The beautiful colour in the water has been preserved very well, and the sky is just as nice too. Paying attention to these details as paid off very well with your work, thank you very much for entering the competition

This was an instant image that was making it into the top 10. I love the glow of golden hour illuminating the sky the foreground and also been picked up on the house too. The images itself is really detailed rich as you've got this spot on and know the highlights are blown out, all these characteristics really add to the image.

Beautiful winding Sharp rugged mountainside that you captured very well. Focus is sharp from front to back in the image none of the Shadows of lost, and the highlights are also preserved well too. Editing also look correct, thank you very much for entering the competition.

This is a really nice image, and I am pleased to have had it in my top 10. There is just enough details in the foliage in the foreground but then the detail and the mountain in the background is absolutely gorgeous. Colours feel natural and nothing looks how to place either. Very much for entering the competition.

Make sure you also check out our two other New Joiners contests - ‘People’ and ‘Animals’.

Another really worthy top 10 image, with the nice sharp details in the foreground and the background, the nice colors on the buildings, the sky, the mountains and the trees, this just adds to a very well taken image. The only thing to watch out for is on the left hand side you've got a little bit of building which I think is a little bit distracting and the same on the right hand side it looks like a crane potentially poking through just be mindful of these little bits on the edges of your frame.

I really like their tones in this shot, The creek coming out to the sea works very well and all the details are nice and sharp. I like colors of the water and the land in the composition that just makes it image work. Very well done for getting such a nice composition and thank you very much for entering the competition.

This is a really nice image, the Framing of the trees on The Rock is done very nicely, the details also work to. The use of black and white to present the actual final result also works well. An area for a little bit of improvement would be just making sure that horizon in the distance is nice and level, because it is sloping down to the left a little bit.

I really like this image. The silhouettes on the mountain side are nice and sharp and really set the scene well with the golden glow of the light, this is really spectacular. There's a room for improvement is with the sun which is overpowering on the left-hand side of the frame, I feel this is just a bit too strong and distracting full stop thank you very much for entering the competition

I really like this image, there's so much going on by like how you frozen the time. With the edit that you've given the image it feels like it was taken a long time ago, but then you note this the camera you used. The image reminds me a little bit of Martin parrs work minus the color obviously full stop thank you very much for entering the competition.

This is a really nice image it's got some great characteristics, front back focus is good I also like the framing with the fence at the bottom of the frame. There is a great sense of depth from where you've taken the image from that first house right the way through to the snow cap mountains, this really helps to set the scene for the shot.

Meet the expert judge

I was really pleased to be able to add this image into the highly commended category, it has a good details such as the nice blue sky and the fluffy clouds. The Rock formations are full of details and I like the winding road and between them to. A slight distraction is the couple of cars in the bottom right hand side, these do add a sense of scale but I find him a little bit distracting because they just seem to be squeezed into the frame.

A nice interpretation of the White cliffs of Dover, the image works really well with some nice tones. I like having gone for film to shoot the image this works really well. Looking at the image it does look like it's slightly on the wonk, this is could be the way the cliffs are making the image feel. The strongest part of the image has to be the nostalgic feel coming from the film from such a iconic location, thank you very much for entering the competition.
