New Joiners - Landscapes #777

April 2024

This is quite a quirky photo, I like the winding barriers to the side of the road taking you through the image with the road with the greens offset against a slight pink hue in the sky. There's some good parts to emerald construction here whereas I like you've got the attention to detail for that first post not being cut off by the edge of the frame and having a little bit of space there it's a little bits details like this the make an image start to stand out, well done.

This is another really interesting location photo and I like how you shot it so wide to show how much there is to actually see. You've done well to preserve the details in the darker areas such as the foliage but also the brighter areas such as the sky to the left as well for start also the whole image looks relatively tacked sharp this is good.

I love this view that you've taken this image from, but more so I Love how rugged the mountains and the background feel through you having captured some nice Shadows and highlights from the sun, while ensuring your focus is nicely set. What do I make the image a bit more interesting it's perhaps having something more substantial in the foreground rather than just a couple of very small bits of rock this can give a nice bit of detail to help flow through the image.

This is another really good image to have in the top 10 it has some strong qualities such as the moodiness in the sky and the leading lines created by the concrete. Overall it's nicely taken photo the details are nice and sharp composition is strong, but I believe it's slightly underexposed as it appears a little dark on my monitor it could do we've been pushed up and exposure maybe quarter of a stop.

This was another really strong image and was pleased to have it in my top ten.

What works really well is the depth that's created by The Shadows and the highlights with the low sun, coupled with the mist as the sun catches that. Where there's definitely room for a bit of improvement is just watching those highlights, as for the top right corner they are blown out, so do be careful of this.

This is a lovely detail rich photo, I like a vibrant it is and I also like how well you've set the exposure, nothing is overexposed or underexposed meaning we can see everything that's going on in the scene. Where there's room for a little bit of improvement it's just watching the Framing, such as the top of the temple the spire is cut off so having a little bit of space here would improve the shots a bit. Also at the bottom right I feel the pink flowers are a little bit distracting, cutting these out of the composition could help no end to.

This is another really interesting photos to see in this top 10, it must be quite a challenging scene to capture I appreciate it's only shot on an iPhone but still you're going to have to have set the exposure correctly and overcome the issues of the lower light to get the shot in the camera. It's nice to see you've managed to capture this beautiful scene the details in the tree the log cabin and even the few stars in the sky.

I really like the simplicity of the image but I love the scene that is set out in front. Is one of those places I wish I could stand and admire that view and that's something photography should do. I like how you've exposed with the highlights and the sky really well, but the overall image could perhaps be improved by using a tighter f-stop to perhaps preserve a little bit of the details in the mountain. Also the bit of tree in the top right-hand corner of the frame is a little bit distracting that could be easily been cropped or cloned out to improve the shot a lot.

Congratulations on your photo have been the winner of this competition, this striking black and white shot with the cloud moving in the long exposure works well. Some of the standout features are the sharp lines and the very nice sharp details. None of the reflections are overexposed we sort of help the image look so good. The only room for a bit of criticism would be that you have what looks like the movement of the clouds in the sky, and then you've got the person who is tack sharp with I don't feel works with the photo this is very subjective.

I really like the mottled cloud in the sky and have some of that's been captured in the sea in the foreground this works very well. Then having that band of mountains running through the middle of the frame with the snow covering them with a bit of light also illuminating them gives the image a nice punch. Where there's room for a little bit of improvement is the buildings that run the right hand side on the water's edge, I feel they're a little bit distracting and I either like to see less or more of them.

This is a nice quirky shots and it takes a bit of time to suss it out, this is great. Without your description it'll be hard to work out which way round is the right way but I like how the person is nice and sharp in both the reflection and the actual person themselves. The exposure controllers good and also the use of black and white gives it a slightly older styled it feel.

I really enjoyed seeing this image as I was working through the entries, I like how fun it is but also serious at the same time. The critical time in on the person walking up the stairs with the pigeon stood on the wall facing that person I think is fun, this is what photography should be. I also like your careful consideration for lines such as the horizontal on the stairs marries up with the horizontal on the structures of the buildings in the background.

This is another top 10 worthy image, there's some good exposure control gone on with the photo, but one of the standout features has to be the framing getting all of the rock in the frame and it also like how you have approximately 1/3 of the c and two-thirds of the sky making up your image. The ship is also great for a sense of scale in your work, this adds another dimension to it all.

Another really nice quality image. I like your choice for black and white this is helps to make the moon punch out in the image a lot more. What's really nice is your exposure control as you manage to get a little bit of detail preserved in the moon and also the detail preserved in the mountains. Really well done it managing to pull together the whole photo
