The instantly recognisable huts and house of northern Norway feature heavily in this image. I like that you've gone for a telephoto focal length and pushed in on the houses and the snowy slopes in the background.

There is a nice balance between the ambient and artificial light and the inclusion of some human elements in the frame help to add scale and context.

I bet this was a majestic sight to witness in person. The glow of the mountains is marvellous, truly demonstrating the beauty of nature. I'm unsure if this image was taken at sunset or sunrise but either way, the low sun is doing a lot of the hard work, illuminating the peaks against a clear sky, creating a contrast between the warm orange tones and the different variations of blue at the bottom and top of the frame.

At the left of the frame, towards the bottom, there is a dark line that interrupts the composition and distracts a little, something that could be solved through cropping it out. Apart from that this is a fine image, thank you for sharing.

I'm a sucker for any misty scene and this a really lovely example. I like that you've gone for a portrait orientation so we get the full picture of the trees at the top as well as their reflection in the still waters below. This breaks the rule of thirds but in a good way because we need the horizon in the middle to enjoy the reflection in full.

The colour scheme is also pleasing, with the blues complimenting the pastel oranges and pinks in the sky, There is some noise in the darker parts of the image but nothing that distracts too much. A really nice image, thank you for sharing.

This is a classic landscape that works with all the elements in the frame to create a pleasing overall image.

The rocks in the foreground help to lead the eye to the still waters in the mid-ground, the still waters reflecting the treeline as well as the neon pinks and cool blues in the sky above.

Your composition works well and everything just fits together in the frame. A nice image that has been well processed, thank you for sharing.

I love the colours and the textures in this image. The greens and yellows in the bottom of the frame are vibrant and intriguing, giving way to the greys and blues of the peaks and sky above.

The little hut that is visible really adds to the scale, and I like how the patterns of the peaks is repeating in the clouds above. To make the image more powerful I would crop out the shadows on the left side of the image. That aside there is plenty to enjoy here, thank you for sharing!

Sometimes a landscape can be improved by the inclusion of human elements and this is a great example of this. I love the landscape as a standalone with the bridge intersecting through the heart of the scene, framed by the trees below and the atmospheric low cloud swirling above. However, the inclusion of the people in various stages of crossing over the bridge just adds that extra piece of narrative and elevates the whole composition.

Your processing choices emphasise the moodiness of the whole scene and overall this is an enjoyable image. My only suggestion for improvement would be to crop out the branch that's sneaking in on the left hand side as it just pulls the eye out of the frame and distracts.

Who can resist an image of 'that Wanaka tree'. It is a massive draw to photographers for good reason, it's an impressive focal point surrounded by equally impressive scenery.

The conditions you've captured in this image are crisp and cool, with the low cloud base touching the tops of the nearby hills and mountains. The tree itself is bare, but still has enough presence to steal the frame, with the reflection in the waters adding to the composition.

I would crop in a bit and maybe move the tree to the left side of the frame, but that's just my preference. A lovely image, thank you for sharing!

I like what you've done here, creating a competent and interesting seascape from the elements present in the frame.

The pier on the left of the frame makes for a really nice directional line, leading the eye diagonally through the scene towards the low, impressive sun in the morning sky. On the other side of the frame the sea defences point towards the sun from the other direction creating a nice synergy.

The low light makes everything feel warm, with the clouds catching some of the colour and completing the composition. A really good seascape that demonstrates an understanding of how to create compelling imagery.

I love images that depict civil twilight, that special time between sunset and certified darkness. This is a lovely example of this where there is just enough ambient lighting to make the landscape glow.

Your composition works well, with the rocks in the foreground graduating in colour from light to dark and leading the eye to the water, which is a satisfying deep blue colour, reflecting the colour of the clear sky above. The sunstar created by the moon is a really nice addition to a sky that is otherwise empty and the artificial lights of the dwellings in the distance adds to the atmosphere.

A really well done seascape that demonstrates thorough knowledge of how to create and process compelling imagery.

This is a classic rendition of a rather marvellous (and well documented) scene, demonstrating the beauty of the location. The rock is the centrepiece, dominating the frame and enhanced by the sidelight demonstrating the textures on the surface.

The inclusion of the line of mist helps to separate the rock from the background and the inclusion of the person to the right really helps to emphasise the sense of scale.

For me, what really sets the image off is the reflection in the wet sand showing off both the rock and the clear, graduated sky above.

This is a lovely image that has a clean quality to it. A worthy winner, thank you for sharing!

A really impressive waterfall image that does a good job of framing the main elements for maximum effect.

I like the fact that you've centred the waterfall in the middle of the frame, technically breaking the rule of thirds but for good reason. It means our attention focuses on the water before exploring the foliage in the surrounding area.

The long exposure adds to the narrative and you've done well not to blow out the highlights too much. I like the processing you've opted to apply to the image, almost giving the scene a faded effect. This is aided by the flat light and the universal greens of the ferns and the trees.

Nicely seen, captured and edited.

Although this might pass some people by because it's not your usual bombastic landscape, there is something lovely about this composition that makes for a really satisfying image.

The two light columns give the image a focal point, creating the sense of a liminal space. The sunset in the background is illuminating the sky with oranges, pinks and blues and the image has a cinematic feel to it. I like the texture in the clouds and the overall this is just a pleasing image to look at.

I had to included this in the 'highly commended' section just because of how rare it is to capture both a rainbow and a bolt of lightning in the same frame. It really shows that you've both got persistence to capture such an event as well as the technical skill.

I love how the bolt of lightning is reaching through the rainbow, and they both have an integral relationship to each other in the frame. Just a stunning moment, even more impressive that you captured it on your phone too! Thank you for sharing!

This is a classic scene that has been captured many times and for good reason. Your rendition does a good job of demonstrating the sheer beauty of the location and pays homage to the master photographers who committed the scene to print for the first time such as Ansel Adams.

The monochrome conversion works well for the strong, directional lighting that dominates the landscape. Your composition works well too, with the waterfall of the right of the frame balanced by the rocks on the left, caught in the strong light. The clouds in sky add texture, especially with some of the low clouds drifting along below the peaks.

A classic scene that is well seen, captured and processed.

This is an image of two halves that uses the lighthouse to powerful effect, pulling together the frame to make an interesting composition.

The bottom half of the frame is green and textured and the top half is blue and full of interesting clouds. The orange warmth of the lighthouse is much needed to give the frame a focal point and the colour helps to add interest.

Nicely seen and captured.
