There have been several image of Dubai in this week's cohort of new joiner images and all have been taken from a different perspective and show to visual diversity of the city.
I like the way you've captured the distinctive skyline in this shot, against that cloudless sky. You've done well to control the exposure shooting directly into the sun and manage to balance out everything in the frame, ensuring the warm glow enhances the atmosphere without overwhelming the frame.
I like that you've positioned the boats in the foreground, but it's a shame they are partly obscuring the skyline which feels like it's the more interesting part of the image.
A good attempt to create a powerful image, thank you for sharing!
Working in monochrome can be really tricky when it comes to landscape photography as it strips the image back to it's basic elements and means the photographer (and by extension the viewer) is relying on just the shadows and the highlights to convey the feeling.
This is really good example of this, helped by the strong sidelight that is catching on the water and the illuminating the spray and low cloud which is doing a good job of separating the tower from the hills in the background.
The darks textures of the rocks compliment the bright highlights and give the image a moody feel.
A competent and intriguing monochrome that works well to showcase the tower, thanks for sharing.
This is a wonderful example of how one element in the frame can completely elevate the entire composition.
Without the boat, this would be a beautiful depiction of scenery, with the blue rippled water leading to the mountains in the distance, separated by that delightful line of mist running through the heart of the composition.
However, the inclusion of the boat just makes the image work on a whole different level. This is helped by your positioning, placing the boat to the right of the frame so there is lots of negative space leading the eye in.
The blue toning throughout is really nice and overall this image works well.
This is a superb seascape that demonstrates competence and understanding of how to create an impressive composition.
Your choice of portrait orientation means that the framing is tight and holds attention, with the eye moving from the rocks in the foreground to the water in the distance. The patch of sand on the left of the foreground is balanced out by the large rock on the right, and the use of long exposure adds interest to the water.
The tones are even throughout but the colour in the sky is absolutely lovely and just elevates the whole scene.
Just a lovely image that makes the most of the conditions, a worthy winner. Thank you for sharing.
I really like this frame in all its simplicity. I think it takes a good photographic eye to be able to incorporate human made elements and the natural world in a single frame and make it work and you've demonstrated the ability to do this.
I love the way you've framed this image with the portrait orientation ensuring there is a powerful relationship between the peaks of the mountains and the cable cars that are mirroring the shape of the peaks. It works really well and makes for a pleasing visual experience. Really nice composition! Thank you for sharing!
Some of my favourite conditions include fog, especially when it permeates through woodland. It can transform a rather pedrestrian scene into something that has a touch of magic.
Your use of framing works well, leading the eye through the image on the path, the trees disappearing into the fog. I love the shapes of the trees in the foreground. All round, a pleasing image to look at.
Sometimes it can be difficult to create interesting landscape photography during the summer months because of the uniformity of the colour with green dominating proceedings. However, you make the most of it in this frame and make it work to your advantage.
The green and yellows of the foliage complement the green and turquoise hues in the water below, leading the eye up to the small waterfall which resides at the heart of the image. The use of long exposure helps to add some interest to the frame and smooth out the water just a little. This in turn leads the eye to the sun peaking from the trees above, creating a pleasing sun star, creating some backlighting for the trees against the blue sky.
The subject matter and the lighting give this image a lush feeling. Nicely done.
This is another depiction of how impressive and powerful drone photography can be when used to capture angles that would not normally be seen from eye level.
Dubai is one of those cities that is hugely photographic, and this is an angle that I've not seen before so extra kudos for creativity and originality. I like that one side of the frame contains mostly low level buildings while the other is populated by skyscrapers.
The colour of the water works well, with the turquoise reflecting in the shiny surfaces of the buildings and complimenting the patch of grass.
An intriguing view that gives a different perspective of the city.
A classic landscape scene that does what it sets out to do -- demonstrate the beauty of the place in which it was taken.
I like that the water in the foreground has an impressive amount of colour, with the green combining with the yellow on the surface to make for an interesting colour scheme. This is mirrored in the trees and shoreline which in turn gives way to the mountain range and the blue sky above.
The square composition keeps the frame tight and overall this is a nice landscape scene that works well and does the place justice.

This image consists of three elements, with each having a relationship to the other, combining to make an interesting frame.
The biggest element is the big sky, consuming two thirds of the frame and made interesting by the cumulous clouds drifting through.
The sky leads to the water, light catching on the gentle undulation of the waves. What links the two is the distant structure of the bridge, mirroring the rise and fall of the waves.
A simple image that is rendered interesting by the framing. Thanks for sharing!
I absolutely love the framing and toning of this image. The square frame works well, with the low cloud consuming the top half of the frame, leading the eye to the woodland and the dilapidated barn. It creates an interesting narrative and makes me wonder about the history of the of the barn.
The toning adds to the timelessness of the image, but unfortunately the dust spots detract from the impact. If you were able to remove them in post it would make this a top ten image.
This aside, an intriguing image. Thanks for sharing.
Drone photography is a wonderful way to experience the world from a different perspective and this is a good demonstration of this.
From an eye level perspective, the marsh lands may not hold a lot of visual interest but from above there is plenty to fill a frame. The vein like system of water snaking through the marshes creating three different entrances and exits to the image, meeting in the middle, creating the centre. The even lighting helps and there is a plethora of texture throughout.
An interesting view that invites whoever is looking to explore in more detail.

There is plenty to enjoy in this image that depicts a beautiful part of the world. The portrait orientation works well, as does your decision to place the horizon in the centre of the frame ensuring each half of the image pulls in the viewers attention in equal measure.
I like that you've used the tree in the foreground to frame the rest of the landscape. The colours in the leaves on the tree compliments the similar colours in the trees on the shoreline and the image is elevated further by the mist floating across the surface of the water. The overcast sky means the tones remain even throughout and all in this is a lovely depiction of autumn in New Zealand.
