This is a lovely scene, but I think the photographer has been guilty of trying to include too much foreground. The rocks and muddy foreground aren't actually that attractive - I'd have taken a few steps forward to exclude the shoreline and place more emphasis on the lovely, mirror-like reflections instead. Remember, less is often more when composing a landscape image.
Although this is a familiar and well-photographed view, I do like the layers and contrast within the scene. The hazy light adds atmosphere, and the conversion too black and white creates a simple, but effective result. The light catching the foliage in the bottom left corner is a little distracting, though.
This is a pretty scene with the low sunlight beautifully illuminating the foreground grasses. The photographer has positioned themselves carefully and effectively to partly obscure the sun behind the little tree and create a silhouette. Personally, I would crop this image into a standard 3 x 2 aspect ratio to remove some of the empty sky and foreground.
Most unconventional photographs tend to polarise opinions - people will either love or hate the results. Personally, I like this. It is simple, eye-catching, and effective. I like the creatively shallow depth of field, clean lines, and calming reflections. It is a well seen and captured perspective.
Wow, this is a truly impressive view! The rocky foreshore creates a neat frame for the still lake and reflections. The warm sunlight is gorgeous and the scene boasts lovely contrast and depth. I might just trim a little slither off the left of the frame to exclude that isolated branch on the upper left side.

Welcome to Photocrowd’s ‘Landscapes’ contest for New Joiners! These contests are a chance for new members to introduce their photography to the community, and get a taste of how Photocrowd contests work. They can be entered by anyone within their first 28 days of joining Photocrowd. After 100 images have been submitted the contest closes and the Crowd will start rating the images. The Expert Judge will also be judging the images and writing reviews at the same time. All the winners, both Crowd and Expert, will be announced after 3 days of judging. Make sure you also check out our two other New Joiners contests - ‘People’ and ‘Animals’.
What a lovely sky and cloud formation - I can imagine this file would convert successfully into black and white. My main concern with this photo is how tightly framed it is. The very top of the Eiffel Tower is clipped which feels a bit awkward. A wider focal length - or slightly different framing - would have remedied this.
What a beautiful landscape and an amazingly colourful sky. The cool tones within the snowy landscape contrast well with the warmth of the sky. Although it is a shame that the road leads the viewer's eye out of frame, it still acts as a powerful lead-in line and the composition definitely benefits from its inclusion.

The photographer has positioned themselves well, using the jetty as a lead-in line that neatly directs the viewer's eye straight to the rising sun. However, the overexposed, washed-out sky is a problem in my opinion. Next time, consider using a graduated ND filter (or bracket and blend exposures) to extend dynamic range and capture detail in both the foreground and sky.
This is a simply astonishing view that is perfectly suited to a panorama. The snowy peaks and gorgeous warm sky work so well together. However, I'm not convinced the building, people, and parked cars enhance the shot. My instinct would have been to exclude them altogether and instead walk a short distance to the left toward the river/stream. This might have provided reflections and a more natural, complementary foreground.
This is an interesting scene with the little fishing boat, harbour, and dramatic coastline behind. The dark, brooding sky suits this scene well. For me, the boat is arguably a bit too large and dominant in the frame, though. Also, the perspective is too low, as the boat just overlaps the harbour wall behind - by raising the camera very slightly, the photographer could have created better separation.
What a beautiful lush landscape - I love the rolling green hills and contrast and depth within the scene. The two trees on the hilltop anchor the composition - adding a key focal point. For me, most of the interest is in the middle part of the frame - the bottom third of the composition is a little messy with telegraph poles and roads. Therefore, I'd be tempted to crop this image into a narrower 16 x 9 or 16 x 10 aspect ratio.
I rarely include people in my photos, but they work well in this instance - adding interest and scale. The photographer has timed the image well with a wave rushing up the beach, creating interesting shapes and contrasting well with the rich colour of the sand. I would just crop the image ever so slightly to remove the couple at the top of the frame - and also the person crouching down at the very bottom - as they are too close to the edges of the frame and prove a distraction.
