I think that urban landscape photography has just as much place in the wider umbrella genre as traditional landscape photography and your image is a great example of why I enjoy it so much.

Instead of opting for a wide-angle rendition of this scene, you have instead found yourself curious with the details, and that is something I identify with and encourage. Your keen eye has spotted the differences in textures and patterns between the three main elements in the frame, from the glass of the building on the left, to the circular shape of the tower in the middle and the lattice work of the bridge on the right. The strong lighting and cloudless blue sky add to the effect and encourage a closer look.

The interplay between buildings in an urban space is fascinating and this image does a nice job of underlining why we should all look a little closer. Thank you for sharing.

There is a lovely atmosphere in this image. Although you describe the conditions as murky, there is a gorgeous glow in the sky, with the rising sun catching on the murk and giving it a warmth against the cooler, February tones.

I like your composition with the two sides of the harbour framing the colours of dawn and shoreline in the distance. I like that one of the lampposts has a seagull perched upon it.

The gentle, windless morning makes for some great reflection with only a slight ripple disturbing the water.

A nicely done image of what looks like a lovely morning, thank you for sharing!

Some images employ long exposure as a technique to demonstrate movement and some instead capture the action in the moment, using a fast shutter speed to freeze time. This image is firmly in the second category and your choice to use a fast shutter speed makes the image all the better.

You give a sense of the tumultuous weather with the giant wave crashing over the structure in the foreground. The wave is so big that it doesn't even fit in the frame, and I love the way it looks against that dramatic, moody sky.

The choice to convert to monochrome is a bold one that works on this occasion, highlighting the differences between the white highlights of the wave, the midtone of the sky and the dark shadows of the structure and the foreground.

An impressive image that shows off the power of the sea, thank you for sharing!

I love this little scene that shows off the woodland on the cusp of autumn, one of my favourite times of the year. The bracken is the big giveaway here, with the green giving way to a traffic light system of yellows and browns, colouring the forest floor.

I like that you've got for a wide angle view so we get both some of the bracken on the ground and some of the trees above. The unfortunate thing about woodland is that it can be quite dark and in exposing for that, you've lost some of the detail in the visible sky.

I'd also be inclined to crop out the two narrow trunks on the far right of the frame, as this would tighten up the composition nicely and keep the viewers eyes in the middle of the image.

That aside, this has plenty of charm and it reminds me of my favourite time of the year, so thank you for sharing.

I like the simplicity that you evoke through your composition in this image, using the two elements in the frame and their relationship to one another as the main aspect of interest for any viewer.

Those two elements include the mountain, the summit of which is catching some low might, and the half-moon that is hanging in the cloudless sky, which also has an important role in creating an effective composition.

I like the way you've placed the mountain in frame so that it has a relationship with the moon. The use of negative space is really nice, ensuring we're not distracted by any other unimportant parts of the landscape.

Overall, a powerful and impressive image that shows you have an eye for composition.

I've seen plenty of shots from this particular part of the world and I have to say that I'm always taken by the sharp, bold colour of the rocks and the almost always blue sky above the structure. It makes for a bold photographic image and your image does a good job to adding to the existing repertoire.

I like your positioning, looking directly up towards the cloudless sky, with the light catching through illuminating the textures. The colour contrast between the reds and the blues works really well, as does the portrait orientation. Nicely done!

Some images are about the composition and some images are all about the conditions. This image sits in the second category. I like how you've given over a big chunk of the image to the gigantic cloud consuming the horizon and dwarfing the buildings that sit on the shoreline.

The 'big sky' feeling is elevated further by the inclusion of the two people standing on the shoreline, looking tiny against the incoming rain.

The shape of the cloud is reflected in the shape of the wave crashing up against the shore, a nice little detail and makes the image even better. Thanks for sharing.

Who doesn't love a rainbow? I definitely cannot resist and I bet you were overjoyed to see one appear off the coast. I don't know what you took this image on, but this is why I love carrying my iPhone with me, it gives me an opportunity to grab images when they appear in front of me.

Whatever you took this image on, you did a great job. The 1:1 framing works well, allowing for a little bit of the foreground to lead the eye into the light catching off the cliffs on the right and that dramatic double rainbow arching up out of the sea and into the clouds above.

Well done on capturing this beautiful and dramatic moment!

Beach huts are a staple of the coastline in the UK and they make for useful and impressive compositional tools, especially when the conditions allow.

I like the colours of these huts, alternating between blue and turquoise. Your low angle and composition means that we're almost looking up at the huts from the perspective of the beach itself.

The colours of the huts complement the lack of light and the soft, warm colours evident in the sky, showing off the last of the sunset with the pinks and oranges giving way to the blue of civil twilight.

A nicely seen image that has been well captured. Thanks for sharing!

You've captured some gorgeous conditions in this shot, the kind of conditions that would make me jump up and down with joy. I'm not sure if you took this while the train was stopped but if it wasn't you've done a great job of making sure the image isn't blurred.

It must have been quite the sight to see from the train with the mist floating across the surface of the water and the high cloud in the sky creating some texture, reflecting in the still waters of the lake. I like that you've popped the horizon in the centre to maximise the reflection and the trees in the foreground frame the mountains in the distance.

A lovely moment from a beautiful location.

You've captured some of my favourite conditions in this shot during what looks like a beautiful summer morning.

The last of the morning mist is lingering as the sun breaks through and creates glorious shafts of light through the foliage. My favourite part of the image is the way the light is catching on the trees towards the left of the frame.

The conditions are great but the composition lets the image down a little. Including the tree trunk on the left pulls the eye out of the image and cropping it out would make the image much more impactful. That aside, there is plenty to enjoy here, thank you for sharing!

Although this isn't a traditional landscape, I think this absolutely has a place in this contest. Landscapes come in many forms and this beautiful seascape shows off a different side of the ocean.

I love the different shapes and textures of the coral and it does a good job of showing off the true beauty of the great barrier reef.

The curve of the water and the reflection from above adds a little something to the composition, as does the inclusion of the divers in the distance.

It's nice to see a different kind of image, thank you for sharing!

There is something serene about this image. I like the way the horizon merges both the sea and the sky. There is something really surreal about it and makes me want to take a closer look.

I like the colour of the sea in the foreground, with that deep green giving way to the warm tones of sunset. However, what makes the image is the inclusion of the two boats on either side of the frame, especially because the yellow colour compliments the greens in the water.

Nicely seen and captured.

There is a lot going on in this image and you do a good job of fitting it all in the frame (for the most part).

I like that you've gone for a portrait composition so the river in the foreground helps to lead to eye into the heart of the image. You say in the description that the light that day was tremendous and I can see some of that in this scene, especially on the upper levels of the hillside, adding some much needed drama and contrast.

There is a lovely flow to the image that is slightly interrupted by the tree on the left, half of which hasn't made it into frame. It just disrupts the flow a little. That said, there is plenty here to like and you do a good job of showing off the fabulous Welsh countryside.
