Some images just have a wonderful way of conveying a clear feeling that negates the location or even the composition. This is one of those images, but the cherry on top is that many of the other elements work in the frame as well.

Shooting directly into the sun can always be a bit of a menace but here you manage it well without too much burn out in the highlights. Lens flare is not something I usually like in an image, but the arc on the right of the frame actually elevates this whole photo.

You've shot this with one of my favourite lenses to use, the RF 28-70 f/2, and the quality of the glass resonates.

The composition also works, with the tree on the right balancing out the mountains towards the centre and left of the frame, and of course those backlit grasses are delightful.

A stand out image in a really strong contest, thank you for sharing!

There's something about this image that just speaks to the colours of spring. I don't know if that's when this image was taken but the bright, vibrant lime green colour of the foliage is certainly associated with that season.

I like the low angle you've adopted here, allowing us to wander upstream with the water to the trees that flank either side of the bank, light flooding through the canopy to illuminate the leaves and bring out those bright, impressive colours. A nice woodland image, thanks for sharing.

This is a tremendous image that makes the most of all the elements in the frame.

Firstly there is the woodland and foliage in the foreground, covered in a layer of fog and mist that seems to be rising up to meet the sky. In the distance are some buildings with impressive architecture that give the image a timeless feel, a sense of something far away and exotic. Behind is that warm, morning sky promising a bright day ahead, and finally, the hot air balloons, scattered over the scene, rising into the orange light.

The composition is spot on with just enough balloons in the right places and it's one of those images that encourages a closer look, thank you for sharing.

This is a rather nice sunset image that makes the most of the elements in the frame. Those trees are the main focal element, silhouetted against the evening sky, the light caught between twilight and darkness. The eye moves from the trees to the low sun, conveniently composed between two of the trees in the distance. The warm light emanates out creating an orange halo around the sun before giving way to those blues.

An image that has a lot of heart, thank you for sharing.

What I like about this image is how all the elements in the frame work together. There is the lone tree, a staple of every landscape photographer, on the left of frame, balanced out by the road on the right and the hint of a telegraph pole in the distance.

Why this works is because of the fog is consuming the background so we have separation from whatever is hidden back there and the elements in our frame stand together, alone in their own narrative.

The monochrome conversion works well, allowing for the image to be rich in texture and ensuring that there are no distracting colours, particular in the crops next to the road.

Nicely seen, captured and processed, thank you for sharing!

There is plenty to enjoy in this composition, from the rock formation on the left of the frame to the low sun almost touching the horizon, casting light across the water and finally the gorgeous sky above, catching colour and light as the sun descends.

It must have been a glorious sunset to witness and you've done well to control the exposure of that low sun. However, the quality of the photo is quite poor which may just be your export settings, and it's a shame we're not able to the see the image in it's full glory.

Other than that, thank you for sharing!

I imagine this image took some good timing and a fair amount of planning. It's always tricky when you're shooting into the sun because everything becomes backlit, so it's good that you've managed the light by using the archway to create a pleasing sunstar.

The sunstar becomes the crux of the composition, leading the eye into the archway and the scenery below, illuminated by the low light. There is enough detail in the darker bits of the image to reveal the texture of the rock and the warm colours of the archway really stand out against that clear blue sky.

Nicely seen, captured and processed, thanks for sharing.

I really like this image. It has a filmic feel, and I like the depth of field that you've used, ensuring that the background is blurred out, helping to lead the eye into the scenery beyond.

The light is cool and clear, and the detail of the boat on the right of the frame just makes the image pop.

The only issue is that the horizon is off which is distracting to the eye. If you straightened the horizon in post it would make the image even more effective and likely would have netted a top ten position.

That aside there is plenty to like here, thank you for sharing.

Some images are all about the atmosphere and this is one of them. These are conditions that would have definitely got me out of bed in the morning! I love it when it's foggy and the mist starts to rise up as the sun warms the atmosphere. It creates an etheral space as demonstrated in this image.

I like that the rest of the image is cool in tone with the only warmth coming from the sun trying to burn through the fog. The composition works well, with the shoreline at the bottom of the frame leading the eye into the scene. There is a sense of cold emanating from the image and it pulls you into the image.

Nicely seen, captured and processed.

There is a clarity to this image that speaks to those crisp autumnal afternoons. This is compounded by the trees in their autumnal coats, orange and warm, contrasting with the deep greys of the mountains in the distance. All of this is set against a bright blue sky full of fluffy, pixar clouds.

Your composition works well and I like that you've gone for a 1:1 ratio as it keeps everything tight in the frame. My only suggestion would be to crop out the cloud right at the very top of the frame (shaped like a triangle) as it pulls me out of the image. That aside, this works well and demsontrates your ability as a photographer. Thanks for sharing!

This is an image I see regularly across the Photocrowd contests, but for good reason. I've said it before, but cliches are cliches because they have an inherent beauty that draws people in and everyone has a right to create their own interpretation of the scenery. I like that you've captured this particular image during the golden hour so the light is catching on the tops of the mountains in the distance that seem to tower over the community below.

You've allowed for some light in the foreground as well, flooding over the church and showing it in relation to the mountains. This adds both narrative and scale. The colours are lovely, with those deep greens contrasting with the browns and grey of the tops against the pale blue of the sky. Well composed and captured, thank you for sharing!

I've seen this view many times, and it always steals my breath due to it's sheer majestic beauty. You've done a great job of capturing why people time and again visit Glencoe, with the mountains rising up out of the valley, and beautiful nature in every single direction.

Many people's experience however, is not as serene as yours, as the rain regularly pours, so it's nice to see a quieter rendition in this image. Your composition works well, pointing the viewer towards the mountains with the trademark brown colours in the foreground and a hint of the river in the mid ground.

However, what really makes this image is the light, cascading over one of the peaks, illuminating everything and creating strands of land down the mountain slope on the right of the frame. You've done well to control the exposure and the light that is divine.

Thanks for reminding me of one of Scotland's most beautiful places.

Images of Antelope Canyon often pop up in the New Joiners contest and they always pull me in with the combination of colour and texture. I think that cliches are there for a reason, because the subject matter resonates with us as human beings and everyone should be allowed to capture their own interpretation of the scene.

I like the tight frame that you've used in this rendition, focussing our attention on those textures and ensuring that the colour doesn't overwhelm the whole image. I like that you've caught the light streaming through the gap, signalling that the surface is just above. The choice of portrait orientation means the composition flows through the frame and all in all this does the location justice, thank you for sharing!

This is a popular week for images of these particular type of rocks, but all the better for it. This is a different take and I like how you've used the available landscape to create a compelling foreground, framing the rock formations in the distance.

This is aided by the strong, low lighting that is catching on the rim of the rocks in the foreground as well as the formations in the distance. There is a little bit of cloud cover that is adding some texture to the blue sky as well as complimenting all the reds and oranges in the image.

A strong image that demonstrates your skill as a photographer, thanks for sharing!
