There is a genuine retro feel to this shot. It almost has a sixties or seventies feel to it - you could easily believe this photo was captured on 35mm film. The high key look, and bleached out sky, suit the scene. The lone figure is integral to the composition, adding interest, and creating a story.
This is a nice beach scene. The sky has mood and drama, while the waves add energy. The scene possibly lacks a focal point to 'anchor' the composition, though. And the horizon is slightly wonky. Many photographers struggle to keep horizon's straight - use a tripod when possible, or correct the problem using photo editing software or an App.
I'm not an astro photographer, so I don't feel very qualified to critique this image in any great detail. But it is an eye-catching and nicely composed shot, with the shapely tree providing an effective focal point. The reflection adds a sense of symmetry and doubles the impact of the night sky. The tone over the image is a little warm for a nighttime photograph, and the light source in the bottom right of the frame (among the trees) is a little distracting.
Not only is this is a huge, far-reaching vista, but the light is beautiful with the golden sidelight and deep shade combining wonderfully to shape the landscape. The layers and depth within this scene are fantastic - it is a photo that needs to be viewed large to fully appreciate it. But I would prefer the people in the foreground to either be out of frame altogether, or in a better position to add scale and interest.
What a lush landscape, with rolling fields, side-lit trees, and a distinct hint of autumn colour. The light is key to this image's success and impact, providing colour, depth, and contrast. The out of focus foreground leaves create an effective partial frame. However, arguably, they are slightly distracting in places too.
This shot won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I think it is very effective and eye-catching. The shallow depth of field and slight vignette really helps directs the eye toward the little tree. And boldly placing it centrally in the frame adds a feeling on isolation and symmetry. The black and white conversion suits the scene well in my opinion.
Mist adds such beauty, mystery, and interest to landscape images. It softens and simplifies the landscape. This is a lovely viewpoint - the drone providing elevation and a far reaching view. The road directs the eye through the frame toward the church, which is a key focal point. The mist and mountains in the background provide lovely context and interest. A well seen and captured image.
This is one of those photos that the more you look at it, the more you appreciate it. I really like the different layers and colours in the foreground vegetation, and they compliment the mountainous backdrop well. A very slightly higher viewpoint would have pushed the taller bushes down below the mountain line, but otherwise a very nicely balanced image.
It is no coincidence that many of the best, most atmospheric images are taken early morning and late evening when the light is warm and the conditions are magical. In other words, its worthwhile setting your alarm early! In this instance, the low lying list and pastel sky provide mood and beauty. I would crop this image ever so slightly to exclude one or two distractions creeping into the frame both sides of the shot.
I love the tone of this shot, with the pastel, dusk sky adding colour and beauty to this cityscape. The viewpoint is well considered, with the bridge sitting neatly below the mountain line behind. In my view, there is too much sea in the foreground - I think a narrower aspect ratio would strengthen the composition.

Simple, concise compositions often work best when photographing landscapes, and snow has the ability to reveal or highlight shapes and subjects. This is a lovely, wintry scene - it is cold, grey, windswept, and bleak almost. It is a very natural and understated scene and sensitively processed too. This shot almost has a Simon Baxter feel to it - a top UK woodland photographer.

This is a very well captured wildlife photo and I'm reluctant not to commend or place it higher. However, it is clearly in the wrong category. Whenever you enter any photography competition, it is important to understand the title and read the rules thoroughly. Maybe even study previous competitions to get a feel for the quality and style. Only select and enter appropriate images.
