A wonderful scene with great use of natural framing. A good exposure with plenty of detail across the dynamic range. One thing to note is the extra blue sky letting the eye drift out of the frame. A simple square or 5:4 crop to remove the sky a little above the background hill top would help contain the viewers eye on the main subject. Well done!
Incredible drama and intensity. The high contrast black and white does a good job of bringing out the details in the storm clouds, while the bright buildings and rail line add a balance and subtle lead in line. I really like the light coming through the cloud showing the heavy curtain of rain rolling in.
I love the light and layers in this photo. The bright morning light reaches over the hills and creates a depth and scale to the image. The bright reflection on the water cuts the image in two between the real world and the lightly rippled reflected world. I'm a big believer in trimming photos down to their bare essentials and getting rid of anything that doesn't add to the feel of an image. I recommend trying a cropped version that eliminates the pebbled shore in the bottom right. While it does show a bit more of the closer landscape, it's more of a distraction in its current form. A beautiful photo none-the-less!
A nice change on the typical view of this waterfall. A warm spring feel to a notoriously cold location. The red topped buildings give a sense of scale to surrounding landscape and waterfall. This sense of scale is further reinforced by those tiny figures climbing the hillside to the viewpoint. Lovely colours too!
An interesting play of light painting with subject matter to match. The curves and twists of light mimic the lines in the dead tree, bringing the barren landscape to life. The mind struggles to find a sense of scale, depending on how one pictures the light source to be. One moment the tree stump looks small, the next it looks as wide as a person is tall. A very intriguing photo!
You've captured some very beautiful light in this shot! While capturing the whole scene, including the sun, makes for a lovely photo, there is another photo within this one that could provide even more interest. The small view down the road where the light rays start and the distant almost silhouetted trees would be a great photo on its own. If you have any long focal length shots from this time I'd love to see those in future contests! Beautiful work!
Fantastic vantage point and composition. The light from the setting sun creates beautiful texture and colour in the water. The central boat is evenly balanced with the background mountains and distant boat by the sun. Although the pixel quality and details aren't fantastic, it's still a wonderful image to look at!
Gorgeous scenery with bright but delicate light. The shape of the snow covered rocks gives the impression of a wave cresting, about to break. A sense of anticipation of this moment contrasts with the solid and timelessness of the actual landscape. This is the type of photo that makes me wish I was there to see it with my own eyes.
If it wasn't for the blue in the shadows of the clouds, it would be easy to assume these are sand dunes in a black and white photo. The viewers mind switches between imagining pure white sand and the possibility that this is snow on the hills. A well composed and exposed photo that plays on the mind. Well done!

A captivating image with a great sense of solitude and sense of place. The tiny view of the cabin is dwarfed by the surrounding landscape and shrouded in quiet serenity by the low lying clouds. The deep red of the windows provides a spot of contrast to the overall green tone in the image to draw the viewers attention to the main subject.

Wonderful story telling and composition. The stone stacks provide an initial point of interest for the viewer, maintaining exposure and details despite being heavily backlit by the sun. The eye then notices the couple, arms around each other, in the background, adding a new depth to the image. The stacks take on a new meaning, almost symbolic of people themselves.
Such a captivating photo with based on shadows and highlights alone, with extra story telling elements of the distant building and quiet picnic. While the composition and subject matter are on point, the image could benefit from a tighter crop. Keeping the basic composition the same, by cropping out the dark space at the top and the extra parts on the sides, you'll achieve the same feel to the image with an even greater focus on the main subjects.
