A lovely river shot with a good amount of shutter speed to add movement to the water while retaining finer details. I like how there is a full spectrum of colours from red to blue in the frame without feeling over done. The blues help the yellows stand out on the river back, while the reds pop out here and there amongst the green. Good work!
A well executed photo with a treatment that suits the Japanese landscape. The green hills sit above burgundy brown and white buildings, which match the train and tracks in the foreground. The muted blue colour of the sky is matched by what makes this image extra special, the shirt of the person sticking their head out of the window of a high speed train. It's fun to imagine that the train was going at full speed when this shot was taken. Great work!
I love how this landscape looks like the ground and sky are mixing together, like a natural liquify tool. The dusty reds and vibrant blues work exceptionally well together. There is a subtle bowl shape to the hills that hold the distant mountains in the centre of the frame. A beautifully composed and exposed photo.
I like how you've created an abstract image of a distinctive landscape, while also providing a subtle human element and scale. What would otherwise be an simple interesting display of lush green vegetation covering a black volcanic rock, turns into a towering mountain face with a winding path from two small pops of colour. The human element adds an extra story layer to the photo. You have a good eye to see this particular composition. Well done!
Good use of an old window pane to frame the street below. It has the sense of the old building looking out over the progress of time, leaving it behind. An advertisement appears to laugh indifferently to the plight of the derelict structure, while the people go about their lives. Well done with this documentary style landscape photo!
There is a magically calming feeling emanating from this chilly nature scene. The glossy surface of the water makes it look frozen, if it wasn't for the elk walking through it. The towering snowy mountain peaks provide a great backdrop for the moment playing out before us. Thank you for capturing this scene, well done!
A sublimely contemplative scene with golden tones and oil painting vibes. The shallow depth of field holds all the foreground in focus while giving the distant landscape a soft dreamy feel. The human figure stands out with a high contrast outfit and vibrant red hair reflecting the sunlight. The whole frame is well balanced visually. The warmer tones across the image match the subject matter perfectly. Great work!
Who can resist a gorgeous mountain lake reflection scene? Tall, thin pines backdropped by rugged mountains, reflected on a slightly rippled mirrorlike lake. It doesn't get much better. The little human element on the opposite bank is a nice touch too, adding both scale and a story element. If you've got the pixels to spare, you could even take a square crop out of this that just has the people on the shore and the trees with their reflection. Great work!
The high contrast black and white works well for this particular scene. It brings out lots of details in the rocks and the icy build up of snow. I do feel that the whole scene is weighted towards the left, and could benefit from a tighter crop removing some of the right of the frame, at least the overly darker mountain portion. There's still a lot of great stuff going on with the main mountain peak. Good work!
A wonderful minimalist landscape. The long exposure works well here to accentuate the details of the pier leading to the lighthouse. The composition allows the length of the structure to stand out, while the slight turn of the lighthouse towards the opposite direction keeps the eye from trailing away. The soft pastel colours look beautiful too. Well done!

A great abstract seascape photo. The deep red trio of structures stand out against the softer colours throughout the rest of the scene. Their details also helped by the extra long exposure. The entire frame feels well balanced across all visual elements, composition, and exposure. A wonderful example of simplicity executed beautifully.
A simple scene with striking visually appeal. The diagonal line through the field leads the eye up over the blanket-like vegetation. Subtle lines run horizontally through the plants adding to the cultivated feel. The small tree adds a visual interest to break up the pattern. The greens from highlights to shadows look amazing too.

This is a visually captivating image. The pose of the bird in flight emerging from the grass is just perfect. It's so captivating that it took me a while to notice the other birds! The one change I'd recommend making before entering this in further competitions is to crop (or clone) out the pole on the right. That simple change would elevate the photo greatly.
