This is a lovely coastal scene and a beautiful sunset too. The photographer has clearly thought about framing and included good foreground interest. The shot is well balanced. However, the horizon is sloping (this is easy enough to straighten in editing) and depth of field is insufficient - the seaweed clad foreground rocks are out of focus. In this instance, a smaller aperture was required.

Although the sun is overexposed and highlight detail lost, overall this is a strong view. The conditions are wonderful, with soft light and rising mist shrouding the trees on the right of the frame. The composition boasts depth, contrast, and interest. A nicely balanced and captured shot.

I love classic landscape photos like this - great scenery, gorgeous natural light, and good camera handling skills. This is an attractive scene. The warm, evening light illuminating the mountain peaks is stunning and the long, 30-second exposure has helped 'spread' the colour in the sky. The composition is simple, yet effective. A lovely image.

This is a great wintry scene - I love the snowy trees, which frame the aurora almost perfectly. Unfortunately, the file just isn't quite sharp enough to make the grade. The photographer in the bottom right corner is rather distracting too.

This is a perfectly good butterfly shot - the subject is sharp throughout and exposure is good. But the subject matter just doesn't suit the theme. Always match your images carefully to the contest - otherwise you'll find your images are immediately rejected, which is both frustrating and disappointing.

Foggy, calm conditions like this create such atmospheric images. The submerged jetties provide an interesting subject - great for minimalistic photography. The posts frame the geese neatly. I think a letterbox aspect ratio might suit this scene better - and would also remove the branches creeping into the top right corner.

This is a really nicely composed and balanced composition. The mooring chain acts as a subtle lead-in line toward the boat which itself provides interest and colour impact. Unfortunately, the conditions are just a bit flat and dull - something obviously beyond the photographer's control. This same scene shot in better conditions would really come alive.

It's really important to check that your horizon is straight. If you struggle to get this right in camera, it is easy enough to check and correct using a photo editing App afterwards. This is a nice shot boasting lots of drama thanks to that wonderfully menacing sky. But the wonky skyline sadly undermines the image. Next time, check and straighten.

The low lying mist really elevates this scene, lifting the outline of the trees from their background and adding atmosphere. The low, morning sidelight helps provide lovely depth - and the aspect ratio suit the scene. I'm sure this image would look great as a big print.

I really like the creative idea of using the foreground leaves to frame the tree beyond. The photographer has clearly thought carefully about their focal length and viewpoint. In my opinion, the shot would suit a slightly squarer crop, with most (if not all) of the sky removed.

Wow, what an eye-catching image. I've never seen bioluminescence with my own eyes, but this shot really captures its beauty and ethereal nature. The composition, with the water rushing around the tree, works well - particularly with the branches thoughtfully framing the moonrise. I'm just surprised at how much warmth the moon is generating in the sky, though - it almost resembles a sunset instead!
