I think this image is a success for a number of reasons. The light is fantastic, a great example of natural window light catching the subject perfectly. The soft pastel tones throughout the image are well balanced and the thoughtful gaze of your daughter all contribute to its success. I'd personally be tempted to crop some of the left hand side to remove the black bottom corner otherwise its great!

A striking image at a first look, both technically and creatively. Reading and learning more about the image and your reasons for making the work add to its strength. Photography can be an amazing tool for expressing emotions which you are concentrating on here. I have myself used Photography to make work for a different kind of loss and found it beneficial to move on. I applaud you for making the image and being so open in a social space. You should carry on these as a series.

You've done well here to control the lighting to just focus on yourself and the chair. I like seeing bits of woodland above, it puts you in the scene, I might be tempted to try another version with a bit more background showing through but that's just me... This reminded me of American photographer Philip-Lorca di Corcia - have a look at his 'heads' project. It's a street project but the lighting you may be interested in.
This has an interesting feel to it. The interior of the building has great colour and light. It would be great to see one of the characters closer, especially with some of the brighter clothing people are wearing in contrast to the walls. A lovely vibrant scene, perhaps would benefit from some extra post production to brighten it up.
One of the skills of portrait & people photography is having the courage to speak with strangers and ask the question! Well done for pursuing the shot and not waiting for your intended location to be clear. The backdrop works well for the sparring partners, I wonder how it would look as a wider shot. revealing more of the graffiti and the street. Great action portrait.
What struck me about this image is it looks like a film still, the lighting is great and you certainly caught the person well. I love the light on her face and the ice cream, her gaze adding to the drama. It's amazing we can get such clarity and detail with our phones in low light conditions. Great image, would make a good series.
This image has wonderful colours, the purple top against the leaves on the ground and the trees are strong elements. One suggestion would be to shoot it from the right side slightly, this would remove the tree coming out the top of her head and place her in front of the white building. I think it would create an extra depth to this portrait, well done.
This looks like you had great fun with this mini project connecting the family together. It would be good to see the colour photo processed as the same black and white/sepia tone as the original to see how they sit together. Depending on your photoshop skills perhaps the extra person in the background could be removed!
Great colours, great composition, great light! Technically and creatively a strong shot, I love the boys looking out to sea, of course I really want to see their faces but it makes the shot more intriguing. It can be difficult to make a success out of 'a back of the head' portrait but I think you've succeeded here, well done.
