A simple, but bold and very effective poratit. The central position of the subject in the square frame and the clever use of hard side lighting that throws half the face into shadow helps create a meaningful, poignant and engaging picture.

A nicely captured street portrait. The composition has been nicely handled, especially with the use of the subject's hands which artfully top and tail the framing holding the image 'together'. The eye contact is engaging and natural, while the overall colour palette with slightly muted hues works a treat.

A clever idea that has been well executed. The use of the frame works well and the skills at creating the painterly effect have been artfully handled. The idea of illustrating a poem is inspired. Keep up the good work.

The arrangement of the figures in this scene has a lovely sense of balance and harmony. This is helped by the cigarettes which create a lovely echo (although smoking is bad!). The use of blue and red also adds to the balance.

Excellent use of moody lighting to create an image packed with atmosphere and attitude. Self-portraits are challenging at the best of times, but when ticky lighting is involved it's even harder, so, big kudos for pulling this off so stylishly.

There's something very peaceful and enticing about this image. The subject looks so content and at ease in his surroundings while working on what appears to be a painting. The position of the subject and the bench in the centre of the frame and the natural environment surrounding provides great context.

This is a nicely seen image that reveals a wonderful sense of playfulness. It is the juxtaposition of the two faces and their respective expressions that gives the image the fun factor. The colour palette and relationship between the reds and yellows strengthens the overall composition.

This relatively straightforward domestic setting has been uplifted with a wonderful sense of movement and energy from the subject dancing in the centre of the frame. It is not always as easy as it looks to capture a striking silhouette, but the photographer has done well in this instance. The shape of the fisherman is lovely against the golden sky, and there is just enough detail in the net to create a sense of depth.

A thoughtful and well-considered concept that has been well executed.. Lockdown has had a big impact on so many people in so many ways and using photography and the power of creativity as a way to work through some of the issues related to the last 18 months can be part of the process of understanding what is happening. Good work.

What a lovely and heartwarming image. The symmetry of the composition works really well and the lighting, especially the floodlights pointing directly at the camera add to the sense of depth and drama. It just goes to show that even with a smartphone camera a keen eye and creative mind can capture great images.

This is an unconventional portrait, but it works. The overall composition has a wonderful sense of energy and vibrancy captured through the movement of the hair which creates a near-abstract arrangement of shape and line. The use of black and white helps accentuate this.
