This photo is the perfect example of what a conversation can do before the photograph is taken. That engagement and interest you showed has been reciprocated and you have their full attention and interest. Great street portrait. I would be tempted (if you have lightroom or similar) to control the highlights and reflections you mention to bring some detail to the mans shirt on the left.

It's good to see an image in a People category that is less obvious and concentrating on a detail to tell the story of a person. Hands are wonderful way to portray someone visually. This has great qualities to it, I really like the black and white tone/grain and the crop in to the hand and horse shoe. Would make a great mini series.

The trees are great in this photo, they enclose your subject really well. Its a tricky shot as there are some obstacles distracting from the couple in the foreground and we aren't quite seeing them properly. If you don't want to approach your subject for a photo you can try moving around slightly from side to side to change the angle and see what happens. I like the composition and tones of the shot. We hope to see some more street and park photos in the future from you!

That's visually stunning, especially as you've exposed for the stars too. The colours and composition are all working so well together. I can imagine this shot took some planning and a perhaps a few tests to get it so well lit.

You've created an interesting shot based on the book and had some technical challenges along the way by the sounds of it. You should be pleased with this. You've done very well to control the lighting you've used and to bring it all together in post production. Goes to show you don't need expensive pro lighting to be creative!

Lovely natural tones throughout this image, the soft earthy backdrop is a great choice with the colours of your models top. I like the slightly desaturated feel to it. I would be tempted to try a hair light to separate the hair slightly from the backdrop on the models left side but that's subjective! Great smile.

Wonderful I love it. Very Robert Doisneau in style and tone! I particularly like the soft foreground focus you've created giving a sense of depth leading us to the main person. The presentation in the classic white frame looks great. Nicely done.

That's terrific light you've caught sweeping across the two of them and you've done well to capture them on their own without too much distraction in a busy environment. They are standing like statues with an intimate gaze, its great well done!

That's a great shot demonstrating trust and love between rider and horse. I really like the focused light and tone across them both and the way it all drops off to black. The detail in the horse is fantastic, great shot.

You've created a wonderful sense of calm with this photo. Its very strong compositionally with your clever use of depth of field helping the viewer to focus straight to your model. Im sorry its in unpleasant conditions but you have certainly stepped the viewer away from any sense of unpleasantness. Great picture and well deserved first place.

The colour palette of this photograph stood out to me while going through the submissions. It has such a great warmth in tone to it and the colours all work so well together. Its really informative to read your text and you've worked well with your technical challenges to produce a great photograph.

What an interesting photo. It has a great street quality to it. A fantastic portrait of the man in the foreground on one hand and then this other figure who we don't know about looking a little menacing turning away from camera as if he's checking you out. Great photo, thanks for submitting and would love to see more of your work in the future contests.

Great shot and although Ive not seen the colour version I really like this black and white one you've submitted. You may be able to help it a bit more by lifting the shadows slightly to show more detail in the farmers clothing and adding some clarity to those wonderful mountains. Just me but I would try squaring it up placing the farmer and buffalo centrally. The engagement you have with with them both is terrific.
