Shooting directly into the light has created a wonderful sense of energy and atmosphere. The strong diagonal shapes and lines of the subject are dynamic and emphasised by a rim light - also the result of shooting into the light. Nicely done!

At first, it might seem strange to select an image in which the subject's head is out of frame. However, the more I looked at this image the more Ioved the sense of intrigue, ambiguity and mystery it evoked. The overall vibe has a retro feel which feeds into the narrative. Good work.

There's a lot going on in this complex composition. I love the way the viewer's eye is drawn into the image by the main character in the centre of the frame. Her direct gaze is penetrating. Great work, that goes to show how good the iPhone can be as a creative tool.

This is a really lovely, engaging portrait. It's hard to work in dappled lighting but the photographer has done well to capture great tones on the subject's face. Being super-critical, I'd suggest that the eyes have been over-processed, especially with the whites. It's very tempting as they look so sparkly, but a little more restraint in this area and this would have been a top ten contender. Otherwise sterling work. Keep it up!

I love the energy exuding out of this accomplished music photo. The low point of view and use of a wide-angle lens adds a wonderful sense of dynamic drama. While the split-second moment of exposure captured a brilliant facial expression.

A beautiful controlled figure study. The use of negative space has clearly been carefully considered with the subject perfectly positioned and posed. The lighting is accomplished and has been skillfully controlled and balanced. Finally, the mono conversion is excellent. Good work!

I like the spiritual vibe that's going on in this capture. Excellent use of light to evoke a sense of place. mood and atmosphere. The blurring was effective too and helps create an ethereal effect. This is a good shot, well done!

Wow, what an epic image that reveals the immense, awe-inspiring power of nature. The human figure in deep silhouette adds a great focal point, creates a sense of scale and also speaks to humanity's relationship with nature. All in all good work. Well done!

I love the idea of creating a vertical panorama. It works particularly well in this image with the super-long shadows created by the figures walking down the street. The black and white processing is just right too with good contrast.

People at work often make interesting and engaging photos. This image of a tattoo artist at work does just that. The concentration on the main subject is intense and nicely captured while the context of the studio and lighting works a treat. Good work.

An intriguing and captivating image. I love the layers of depth created by the flowers and the placing of the flower over the subject's face was an inspired act of creativity that adds layers of mystery and intrigue to the narrative. Good work.

An engaging street portrait from Rajasthan, India. Using a wide aperture with the super-fast Nikon 50mm f/1.4 has created a shallow depth of field and blurred the background beautifully. Despite being blurred the background elements are important aspects of the composition.

The use of light is fantastic in this engaging portrait. The light literally spilling into the frame produces a lovely effect with rays, lens flare and a fabulous rim light around the subject. There is a mischievous twinkly from the subject too which adds to the story.

A quiet moment of peaceful contemplation that has been artfully seen and captured. I like the subdued lighting and subtle muted colour palette, both work well in evoking a mood and atmosphere. The hint of green in the background helped created context and adds to the narrative.

What an excellent 'decisive moment' that has been skillfully captured. I love the echoes of green harmoniously bouncing all over the composition. The subject is perfectly positioned n the frame. This is a super image that works on many levels.
