It's the attention to detail that makes this photograph stand out. Subtle things like the distance between the model in the chair to the background which allows enough space for them to be seen as seperate, The poistioning of her legs and feet in harmony next to the peacock style dress. The light is perfect on her face and the neutral colours of the floor and backdrop make the dress and chair stand out. A well constructed and made photograph.
A view we dont get to see very often. This precise and stunning image is very well captured under I'm sure complex conditions. The light at the top with the diver just below offers a fantastic composition is wonderful to look at and is so calming. The overall hues of the almost singular colour works so well. This is a photograph I would put on my study wall and return to its gaze daily.
I love the vibrancy and snapshot quality of this photograph. The colours work so well together and we wish we were there. It has a Martin Parr quality to it and thats not a bad thing. The focus is perfect and this image talks about how we understand the idea of a snapshot. We all frame our lives through mobile camera phones and the immediate. This may well not be from a phone - regardless its quality shines through.
This is a wonderfully seen and composed image. The quality of light against the strong vibrant colours of the central figure against the fun fair style shops works very well. The out of focus sections of people in the front really frame this picture perfectly as does the shallow depth of field throwing out the background. We remain transfixed to the woman within this frame. So close to claiming the top prize. Great Photograph.
A singe coat in red is enough to lift and elevate this otherwise monochromatic scene. The added interest comes from the vantage point behind branches. We have seen similar views within horror movies but I'm sure this has no sinister intentions just the wonderful photographic device of using brances to breakup the foreground/background relationship. A nice wintry view.
The quality of liight on the girls face really makes this image jump out. In some ways its a unusual composition. Why is she placed on the floor against what could be a bin? we see the bodies and legs of two passerbys blurred against what is a small and busy space. It's not the everyday setting for a model or a photoshoot? the quality says it is set up but maybe it's a snap of a found subject alreay in situ? Does it matter. It's captivating regardless.
This domestic scene is very well considered - especially the inclusion of the empty chair in the foregraound to the right of the frame. A family or group of friends coming together wholly transfixed on the young child with the dog in front of them. It has a vintage feel to the image, partly with the wood framed buildings and partly because we read these types of photographs with nostalgia. A great photograph that reminds me of my own family gatherings.
This is a surreal like photograph. We dont expect to see this type of person sat rather relaxed in this setting. Yes the title gives it a way. A training video, but that does not lessen the impact of this photograph. It is well produced and the colours work well which given the lighting is not easy to do. The backdrop of the room plays its part and adds to the unique and strange scene. A great portrait.
It's not easy to photographs crowds in a new and exciting way but this photographer has managed to do just that. The framing and movement within the image really works well and makes it seem that we are there in the crowd as well. It makes me think of the present Queue that is snaking around Westminster Bridge in London to see the Queen's coffin especially with the title Lonely not Alone. Perfect timing on many levels.
This really is a classic composition. The lone figure in the foreground to the left of centre with the landscape flooding the rest of the frame. It's a scene that is familiar to us all. The lone cowboy looking at the place they will spend time. Watch any classic Western film and they nearly always start with a scene setting backdrop like this. Stunning.
A poignant and beautifully captured photograph. The fact she looks out into the cold gives the image its universal quality that this is a face, a person who represents what many people are facing in this country these coming months. The quality of light from the window is very well judged as is the expsoure to keep detail in the backfound of the kitchen. The shallow depth of field again works very well as we fully focus our attention on the subjects face. It's a quiet yet moving image that fully deserves its top billing.
I love the intricate detailing on the girls dress which works so well with the overall silver hues of the colour palate within the entire frame. She seems lost in thought and its a lovely composition and the quality of light on the water and back of her hair really lifts this image. It reminds me of Game of Thrones. A princess alone thinking about whatever she maybe thinking about. It's not for me to guess but to just enjoy this photograph.

A beautifully seen shot at the decisive moment. The quality of light really adds to the warmth of the image as does the excellent composition of the single figure above those below in the foreground. It has a spiritual quality and allows us the viewer a chance to see into a quiet moment of contemplation for those involved. A fantastic photograph.
