This is a fun image. The three people in the picture are having fun and it makes me smile when i see and look at this. The poses are well seen by the photographer and the full length means we get to see these wonderfully coloured outfits in their full glory. The colours pop against the bright background and it is the different shapes in the wall to the clothes that make this image stand out. The light is even which allows us to really look into the picture without any interference. Well done.

Sometimes you come across gems that you just have to take a picture. If your prepared you have your camera with you. This is a great example of having a camera with you all the time. The coming together between the small child and the monkey is wonderfully timed by the photographer as they just touch hands. It is a warm image that makes you smile and believe in life.

This is a really beautifully constructed image. The quality of the light on the people, the use of the low angle looking up to include the moon makes this a very surreal photograph. The darkened background works well against the couple in the foreground. They could be brother & sister? It feels very modern with TV programs like 'Stranger Things' all over Netflix. It is lovely as we the audience get to see what they see. Very well done.

A wonderful example of what we have all gone through over the last couple of years. We wonder what the conversation they are having. The woman on the left holding court to the other two listening intently. The poses are really wonderful as is the use of black and white which really offers depth to the scene. I wonder is the photographer the 4th person in this group or have just come across this very photographable scene and made a great photograph? Well done.

This is all about the positioning of the photographer to understand that to make this image stand out from many a silhouetted beach scene that they had to do soemthing different. The low angle takes us into the central figures and the sun just to the right of the woman works very well as does the persons pose. Technically this image is well controlled as the sun does not flare and dominate the picture. Great evening colours and fantastic composition.

This is all about the coconut and its positioning. It frames the image very well as our eye first goes to the small object floating within the space. We then discover five men within the photograph. The wonderful gestures of the two playing in the centre of the screen work incredible well and it is their movement that makes the image. Add in the great timing and soft light. This photograph is fun and a delight to view.

When a photograph is told with a story it can become more powerful and it helps us the viewer to understand what the photographer was thinking and then how best to go about achieving their aims. This is a fine example of this. To know the area where the picture was taken and its history only adds to the power of the image. The womans quiet pose, her dignity and respect shines through. The added colours leap from the screen and the trees behind here frame the entire scene beautifully. Well done.

This image has so much going on. Mainly monochromatic except for the pop of pink. The wonderful expression on the face and the unused kitchen suggests pride and newness. The photographer has used the light and the effect that the blinds give to great effect. The composition is very good and only includes what we the viewer needs to fully understand what the photograph is about. We wish Emily well. A worthy winner.

This is a really powerful image as the woman reveals herself to us the viewer in the frame of the mirror she holds infront of her. We are so used to seeing selfies that this makes for a nice change. The photographer standing back to see the person looking at themselves. It would have been easy for the photographer to ask the girl to look at us through the mirror. It works so much better that she does not as this adds a layer of intrigue as she does not acknowledge the camera. The overall dominant use of pink works very well in what is an excellent constructed image.

This photograph really stands out because of the quality of light on the central figure and use of shallow depth of field so our eye focuses straight at the young man. This is then taken further by his own intense stare. I assume the group is on parade all looking directly in front of them. This is a very good example of having to make a photograph, to think about the framing and focus points add the light and you have a real winner.

The sense of isolation, The beauty of the light and composition really take this image to the next level. We get to see what confronts this person, what they are about to do and the scale of the open sea. The darkened clouds adds to the drama against the blue of the water and the white sand all come together very well. This is a picture of a picture like a Magritte painting- the photographer gives us the scene. So close to my top 10.

This is a beautifully constructed and composed image. The composition of the three quarter length pose is a classic and brings all the attention to the mans expression, we then notice his chained hands which work with his hard faced look into the camera. The photographers technique is excellent as is the use of a smoke machine for added drama that takes the background away from us. This could have been taken in another century given the mans clothes. A great image that really draws the viewer in.

This is such a peaceful image. The mans facial expression and body language just seem so calm that it then resonates with us the viewer. The tranquil setting and and quality of light on his face just again makes us feel relaxed. When we are so used to rushing around this is a fine example of a different pace of life. The use of Black and White adds further to this feeling of quietness, to another time when things seemed slower. Great image.

This could be a film still from a classic 1950s Hitchcock. It is full of drama and suspence. Who is this person? The sense of isolation from the background is fantastic and the framing is 1st class with the head just above buildings in the background. The silhouette and clothing only add to the mystery as does the wonderful pose with the one arm visible. Posed or found, either way this is very well composed and makes for an intriguing and visually stunning photograph.
