I appreciate the angle taken here, it feels such a different approach to street/portrait photography and creates a certain viewpoint as a viewer within this location that has major meaning within culture. You can encourage this approach as a series of travel photos taken from specific view points. This would be very interesting to see as a series.
Fun portrait taken here! The focal point is achieved as an off point which creates a more diverse angle, playing off your subject's yoga posing. If you have a similar opportunity again, practice different angles by aligning the pathway to the furthest distance as a central base of your image, work around your models too. Good luck!
I’ve chosen this image to review to further commend your use of angles and balance of light in this portrait as a landscape. There is much detail in this, but it doesn’t overcrowd the overall purpose of the narrative. I feel the facial expressions throughout really connect the viewer to the portrait.
Congratulations! This portrait immediately caught my eye, not only for its themes of the contest, but the lighting is so well captured. You have shot the balance of light to act as a spotlight on your model, so directly. This image holds an excellent path for the viewer's eye to follow from your subject towards the landscape. Well done!
Thank you for entering this contest! I found your image extremely relevant to current circumstances. Well done on capturing the passion from the demonstrator leading the crowd towards peace. Perhaps use a wider angle lens for future documentary photoshoots for a wider context to the photo. Good job!
Congratulations on first place! I've chosen your entry as winner because of a multiple factors, mainly composition and framing. You have successfully shot this when involving moving elements such as the sea and yourself shooting from a boat. Difficult, but you've succeeded here. Beyond the human figure, you’ve invited cinematic visions into this work to extend the narrative, however this is overall very art focused with excellent lighting and extended in post with pink hues on the waves. Well done!
I like the tones used here, and thank you for mentioning the story details behind this portrait. I'm interested in the lighting used here, it's patchy but highlighting prominent parts of the portrait. Furthermore, I suggest in post, give more contrast to the shadows and detail within the brick work of the church.

I want to emphasise this image as travel narrative, the lighting is strong and moulded well against your models. To further the theme of people, your models are silhouettes with little detail, yet this is a recognisable location. This is a skill adapted by yourself which is good for natural capturing, continue developing these skills!
Meet the expert judge
I appreciate the angle taken here, you've created a warm narrative, the lighting in stronger parts of the image suggest an overhead, where you have balanced this well against the shadows. I'm more drawn to this due to the specific cropping, hands to head is very much like religious imagery, however in a contemporary sense here.
