This is such a powerful and evocative image. We can read so much in to this and given the little information provided our minds can run wild thinking about what this image is about. It could be a film still from a war zone given the smoke and drama within the field against the silhouette of the isolated figure or an actual war scene or it could be just a walk within what looks like a wild landscape on fire. The quality of the dramatic light and contrast add so much drama and suspense to this intriguing photograph.
This is a lovely simple yet endearing portrait that could only have been taken by a family member. It is so full of warmth and life that we keep looking at it. I love the mud, the colors on the top which now look like a Jackson Pollock painting and the wonderful expression of the girl holding the pan. The tight three quarter crop really takes us into the scene. If I could change anything it would be to not have the distraction of the colored cars in the top right but that's a minor consideration in what is a great capture.
A fantastic candid image of children playing and responding to the camera perfectly. The high contrast black and white really adds to the vibrancy of this image and it is so well balanced with wonderful light on all the faces revealing these wonderful expressions. Add the low camera angle against these great clouds and white building which gives a sense of scale and we have a powerful evocative portrait. Superb.
Wonderful vivid colors that really brings this photograph to life. The composition is excellent with the two masked individuals well placed within the frame and the sea of yellow flowers work very well against red and blue masks. The shallow depth of field adds to the drama as does the left hand mask with their hands held up as if to say they are surrendering. A very well taken and judged image. Congratulations.
This photograph perfectly articulates the joy of a group of young people graduating from University. What makes this better than most of the type is the photographer moving back, so we the audience see the whole scene unfold in front of us and the decision to shoot into the sun which we are told we should not has been controlled wonderfully well so that the hats and papers have been caught perfectly into the sky. Great timing and a lovely keep sake for these young people starting out in life.
Taking photographs of protests is not an easy thing. It is so easy to get unwanted people in and objects coming out from every corner. This is a well considered and controlled image. Firstly the photographer has made the decision beforehand that they want to get the front of the crowd in so we the audience get to see the entire scene before our eyes. This is only made possible by the elevated position the photographer takes before making the image. A clever photograph that perfectly shows a peaceful protest. Well thought out.
This is a powerful and punchy black and white portrait of a young child. Its added power comes from the tight crop and shallow depth of field so all our attention goes to the child's eyes which we cant help but keep looking into. The high contrast adds extra drama as does the subject looking straight back at us. Who will blink first? A great visually powerful image.
This was so close to my Top 10. The expression on the young girls face is wonderful and seems to mimic what maybe she has seen in salons before. The old fashioned curlers are really a lovely touch as is the old fashioned hair dryer.. The grain in the image adds an additional nostalgic feel that complements the image so well. Congratulations. This would make a great series within the salon.
What makes this photograph stand out from the crowd is the closeness the photographer gets to the subject for this tight crop and the angle it has been taken at. The two small children almost act as a mirror to each other, staring back at the child's intense stare. The vibrant warm color with the boys skin against the warm backdrop adds to the vibrancy of this image and makes it really stand out.
What a fantastic image. I can imagine the photographer walking across from the other side of the road and seeing the potential in the scene across but what an amazing composition with the lady looking one way, the boy semi-blurred running in the opposite direction behind her and the dog fully aware of the photographers intentions. The black and white adds to the graphic quality of the composition and the tonality is superb. A Fantastic decisive moment photograph.
This could almost be a painting. The over the top colors, and processing. But it works so well given the strangeness of the subject matter coming across a wonderful couple as if they are dressed to go to a children's party and the great slab of yellow in the foreground on the floor. These colors work so well against the grey background and their is a real surreal sense to this image. Can it be real? Overall a well captured photograph and processed perfectly given the subject and composition.
Perfect timing and tells of the joy these football fans are feeling. It's a great capture as the doors only open for a short time and to get the quality of exposure and expressions on the faces is first rate. It is very topical and would grace any magazine that was writing an article on Argentina winning the World Cup. A worthy winner like the football team they support. An image that puts a smile on your face.

This photograph works so very well on several levels. The vibrancy of the colors and the composition, which is a tight crop and the story behind the photograph. We can read it as the reason the child has a jacket over their head as we the adults don't listen to our children and what we are doing to the planet regarding the climate. Add in the clenched hands which could signal anger and the tops of the green plants really add a political angle to this wonderful and warm image. However yo see this photograph it works so very well.

This is so well controlled and the composition from front to back works so very well. It would have been so easy to bleach out most of the subject given the direction of the light but the technique is flawless. all three people in the frame are nearly silhouetted but the wonderful detail on the side of the face of the young child in the foreground really gives emotion, fragility and depth to the scene. A wonderful composition and powerful image.
This is a charming and classic portrait of a young woman. The technique of blurring the background really allows the girl and her amazing hair caught in the wind really stand out, add in the blue eyes and a smile hidden behind the hair and this image is of a very high standard. The tight crop and central framing of the main person adds again to the strong composition and the vivid bright colors of the pinks from the top work very well against the cooler blues of the background. Lovely.
