Thank you for entering this contest! I found your image very reminiscent of cinema referencing. Your subject is posed naturally, and that's what makes this shot a success. Why this references cinema is how you’ve left a great amount of space for narrative. See Hitchcock for reference. Good job!

Really fun portrait that focuses on both stillness and movement, you’ve captured your model at a good angle where her face is in focus and recognisable in a wave of motion blur with flying locks of hair. For a future shoot, I would propose shooting this style on black & white film with flash lighting, the quality would be incredible within a sport shot.

Congratulations! I really like how delicate this portrait and the sense of calm it brings to the eye. This is a tremendous entry, you’ve managed the lighting well that it doesn’t let the fog take over the image. Gentle and effective. Well done!

I appreciate the angle taken here, it feels such a natural approach to street/portrait photography and creates a space within the frame for your subjects. Next time, play with angles, especially in this environment too. Simple with a great statement!

Thank you for submitting this photo to this contest, great subject captured and colour tones with the two colours. If you're interested to pursuing portraits like this in a future photoshoot, position your model closer to the light source and introduce fill in flash with gels. Nice work!

Congratulations! This landscape portrait immediately caught my eye. This image is framed with journalistic and documentary references. Your use of layers and balance of light in this portrait as a landscape, is very well captured within this frame. Well done!

This is a sweet portrait and interesting framing, with the square cropping, it looks like a still from a horror film. You've captured a moment which plays with proportions with its size difference. between subject and setting. I'd suggest editing the exposure for more contrast.

I’ve chosen this image to review to further commend your use of layers and balance of light in this portrait as a landscape. The heavy orange featured with the reflection of the sea with the silhouette fits really well in this contest.

Thank you for submitting this photo to this contest, great layering captured and grey tones with the framing especially. If you're interested to pursuing photos like this in a future photoshoot, experiment using a 35 mm film camera. You'll gain great results like this and appreciate how fun photography is in its most organic approach.

I want to emphasise this image as travel narrative, the lighting is strong and is perfect against your models. The frame is well considered here, and you've left an amazing amount of space around your subject. This is a skill adapted by yourself which is good for natural capturing, continue developing these skills!

Welcome to Photocrowd’s ‘People’ contest for New Joiners! These contests are a chance for new members to introduce their photography to the community, and get a taste of how Photocrowd contests work. They can be entered by anyone within their first 28 days of joining Photocrowd. After 100 images have been submitted the contest closes and the Crowd will start rating the images. The Expert Judge will also be judging the images and writing reviews at the same time. All the winners, both Crowd and Expert, will be announced after 3 days of judging. Make sure you also check out our two other New Joiners contests - ‘Animals’ and ‘Landscapes’.

This portrait has so many theatrical references with lighting, framing, and pose. This image is so reminiscent of the great work of Jeff Wall and the chaos of Philippe Halsman's portrait of Dali, the act of a still model and fast movements from subjects and props. Great shot!
