Keep your head in the game, indeed! I'm always looking for alternative approaches to sports photography, and you have delivered that with this entry. A wide frame offers more to the narrative here, motivating the player's ambitions in the game.

I want to highly credit this portrait for its focal efforts, the hair placement here with your model, really suits this direction of lighting. If you're interested to pursuing photos like this in a future photoshoot, experiment using a 35 mm camera.

I really love how delicate this portrait and the sense of calm it brings to the eye. This is a tremendous entry, you’ve balanced the lighting so well that it doesn’t over expose your model's features and maintains the location.

This is a sweet portrait and interesting framing, and definitely looks like a special memory. I wanted to further congratulate you with the wide frame choice and your approach to having less detail in the backdrop, only clouds and sky. Very good!

I’ve chosen this image to review to further commend your use of layers and balance of light in this portrait as a landscape. This is a very respectful way to approach travel and documentary portraits. Great grey tonal and frame too.

Thank you for submitting this photo to this contest, great subject captured and colour tones within the landscape and striking orange. If you're interested to pursuing portraits like this in a future photoshoot, position your model within the centre of the frame. However, practise different angles!

I’ve chosen this image to review to further commend your use of angles and perspective here. Your main subject isn't central to the shot and you've emphasised the texture of the grass / ground, which relates to your model in tone!

This is a sweet portrait and the styling here, with your model, really suits this direction of lighting and environment. Interesting framing, I feel the shoes are lost however, an inclusion of these would be beneficial. I suggest placing your model on a box for a full portrait.

Congratulations! I really love the cinematic value this landscape shows. This image is so reminiscent of the great work of Sofia Coppola, the environment perfectly frames your subjects in their intimate moment and slight symmetry too. Please continue shooting in this style!

This is one of my favourite entries to New Joiners! Congrats! I love the cinematic value this landscape shows, heavy neon featured with the reflection of the chef's posture fits really well in this contest. The colours reference Mark Rothko too, very well done!

Congratulations! This landscape portrait immediately caught my eye, this image is framed well with cinematic documentary references. I appreciate the angle taken here, it feels such a natural approach to portrait photography. Try shooting with an ISO of 100 next time! Great photo!

Thank you for submitting this photo to this contest, great layering captured and grey tones with the shadows. It's good that you have mentioned the production details below, so I can offer technical feedback. Shoot again at a 50 mm lens.

I want to emphasise the cinematic value this landscape shows. It's very much in reference to a 16 mm film camera with an extreme wide frame. It would be very interesting to pursue sports photography in this traditional approach. Great tones too!

Welcome to Photocrowd’s ‘People’ contest for New Joiners! These contests are a chance for new members to introduce their photography to the community, and get a taste of how Photocrowd contests work. They can be entered by anyone within their first 28 days of joining Photocrowd. After 100 images have been submitted the contest closes and the Crowd will start rating the images. The Expert Judge will also be judging the images and writing reviews at the same time. All the winners, both Crowd and Expert, will be announced after 3 days of judging. Make sure you also check out our two other New Joiners contests - ‘Animals’ and ‘Landscapes’.

I’ve chosen this image to review to commend your level of details and balance of light in this portrait as a landscape. For a future shoot, I'd suggest positioning your model more central and practice different posing, like subtle head tilts!
