This feels like a performance piece captured perfectly by the photographer. I love the beads of cola dropping down in front of the face in a deliberate act. This needed the background to be very out of focus otherwise we would not notice the cola spilling. This act fits very well within the urban setting and provides an intriguing photograph that asks lots of questions without providing the answers and that is not a bad thing. Great capture.

The colors, the camera angle and that wonderful stare away from camera are really powerful within this photograph. The stunning deep reds against the whites in the eyes and dark hair really makes the face stand out. In many ways everything is wrong in this picture. It breaks all the rules and so thank you for that. The color haze coming into the frame at the bottom could be off putting but it is an element in contemporary fashion that we see often and adds a cinematic feel to the image. even if it was not intentional and a mistake. For me it's a happy accident and i like its inclusion. I put my phone to the image to blank it out and it didn't work. We need the shirt and tie to give balance to the overall scene. A great modern image.

Such a lovely portrait of a man. The muted warm colors work well against the intended out of focus backdrop which looks surreal. The sharpness in the face and body work well and really allows us to see all the detail in the shirt and beard. The use of the mobile phone looks quite out of place within the setting but gives a clue to the modernness of the photograph. This is one of my favourite photographs and would sit well framed on any wall in a home or gallery.

This could be a stills image for a pop video. I love the light within the hair that then really transforms the color and the confident pose and eye contact to the camera works well. She has an air of confidence and the divide between the horse in profile and the lady works so well and gives a sense that the photographer has worked hard to set this image up. It's a great capture.

This wonderful photograph has such a warm glow and feeling to it. It also works on several visual and social levels. The two groups of people. The ones on the left hand side looking up in awe at this amazing illuminated building as in tended then the group on the right having a picture taken seemingly unaware of the building in front of them and the protocols of what is expected that from the rocks where you sit you look at the majestic scene in front of you. The contrast between light and shade are very well exposed and it really does allow us the viewer to really enjoy the entire photograph. Well done.

Sometimes photography is about waiting, waiting for the right light and making sure all the elements come together to create the perfect picture. The photographer has caught this family going fishing to perfection. The silhouetted figures mirror each other and the wonderful step by the person in the front is fantastic and gives us a sense of excitement they are feeling for the day ahead. The use of lines and black and white add to the graphic quality of the photograph. Well done.

We get a real sense of what it must be like to be wanted, to be seen and to have no personal freedom or space. The photographer has chosen the perfect angle to make this idea come true. The focus is all on the one person been viewed at. We see the gaggle of cameras to the left and the frenzy that surround this walkabout. It's a great photograph about a modern tale and a glimpse into a moment. The high key tones do work but I'd have maybe softened them a little but that's just a personal choice and does not take away from a great picture. Well done.

There is a scene in the film Wings of Desire where the angel looks down onto the city and we the audience get a real sense of wonder. This quieter scene offers a sense of the same. We get to stop and think to contemplate about other things. The muted colors work well and the placement of the man looking down with his dog looking out at the world is great. The sharpness of the main subjects against the blurred important background works so well and really adds a feeling of awe within the frame. Lovely photograph.

This reminds me of a painting. My eye is taken all over the scene. I enjoy looking at the two surfers in the top left corner and the figure paddle boarding in the top right corner. This is the delight in looking at this image. We can go to areas that we find interesting and this is made possible by great technique. The entire vista works well and in many ways this is the complete photograph. It's a joy to spend time with it.

This is a wonderful photograph that works on all levels. The tight crop really gets close to the action which is not easy with sports photography. The sense of camaraderie is clear to see between the players and what winning means to them as a group. The use of black and white adds grit and drama to the image which is appropriate to the hardness of rugby and works very well. I love the black and white hops on the tops and this is mirrored by the camera mans lens. I would love to see the shot he got but I bet it's not as good as this. A wonderful expression of raw emotion caught expertly by the photographer. Very well done.

This is a great example of producing a simple but stunning individual portrait. The colors scream out at us and work so well against the deliberately muted out of focus background. This allows us to concentrate on the person staring back at us. The tight crop works well but still gives enough information to the viewer about the clothes worn. The dignity of the man shines through and that is the skill of the photographer and the trust the subject placed in him. Stunning.

Such an amazing grab shot. Great timing and a bizarre image that works so well because of the bold warm and vibrant colors. It reminds me of the work of Martin Parr and it is the kind of subject that he would appreciate. I love the arm around the boys shoulder in the foreground and the man taking a picture of the people seemingly unaware of the giant low flying plane which is great as we the audience respond like the couple signalling the plane. A fantastic moment well captured. Well done.

A striking single portrait that works within the American classic style of Richard Avedon's 'In the American west series. The white sheet as a background is perfectly exposed whilst not being obtrusive to the main subject. The simple posing works well and the out stretched arms with the tattoos is lovely and compliments the styling on the T-shirt and clothes. The use of B&W adds to the feel that this is a classic style photograph and the stare from the sitter goes straight past us. Lovely. A great image.

How do you get a real sense of coming together not just by including a single group but the conductor as well in this case. The answer is in this image. The tight crop to include only what we need to see to get a sense of what is going on helps as does the closeness of the boys togetherness. which we get a real idea of in this great capture. It's a color photograph but mainly black and white in its tones. The pop of blue from the three blue masks add a little lightness and the pride of the boys is evident to see. very well controlled in harsh light with an excellent exposure. Very well done.

When I watch motor racing on TV the pit stops happen so fast that you never get a sense of really what is happening. This picture taken from an elevated position using a fast shutter speed tells us exactly what is happening. I love the overall sharpness of this image and the warm strong sunlight allow us the audience to really look around at all the different elements going on in this picture from those directly involved with changing the wheels and those looking on. The strong colors and use of graphic symbols within the picture give the image that graphic design quality. Great capture.
