This is a classic composition of thirds broken up with the wonderful tree and bridge and Opera house looming in the background. With so much iconic beauty in the frame it would be easy to miss the interesting element within this photograph. The people, enjoying a summers day. The technique is flawless with great depth of field allowing us full access to what is included within the frame, the saturated colors work well and are not over done so the entire picture looks lifelike. The tree branches sprawl across the entire frame and really hold it all together. A classic photograph. Very well composed.

The quality of light on the face and skin is superb and works so well against the darker rocks in the background and foreground. The pop of color from the red dress is well matched and could not have been better. The position of the face echoes the almost fire trees caught out of focus in the background which offer a really interesting visual dynamic against the main subject. It's a calming picture but full of tension. Great capture. Well done.
Stunning technique and wonderful light in the eyes really elevates this close up image of a face into something far greater. It is full of emotion and the intensity of the stare leading out of the frame keeps us captivated and looking at the girl. The quality of the highlights on the bridge of the nose and bottom lip give a sense of dimension to the image. The use of Black and White adds that film noir quality and overall this is a stunning image. I'd love a copy framed on my wall. It's that good. Truly captivating.
Beautifully captured with perfect timing makes this photograph really stand out from the rest. The use of a long focal length isolates the individual and offers a shallow depth of field that draws us into the frame and the wonderful expression on the young boys face. The ripples work well as does the abstracted reflection in the water. The graphic use of black and white adds to the drama of the image without distraction and the tonal range is very well controlled. The off center placement of the head works well and overall this is a great capture. Superb technique and great composition. A fantastic photograph.
I'm not quite sure what the significance of the famous statue take is to this lake but the photographer has made a wonderful composition from the elements all coming together from the person walking towards the end of the short pier with the great slogan 'Lets Go' on the back of the jumper to the reflection in the wet concrete in the foreground. The soft and subtle color works well. It would have been easy for the photographer to really up the contrast which would not have worked as well. It's an intriguing photograph which only gives away some clues. I love the suspense of the picture. Well done.
This is a wonderful candid portrait of a couple of young children playing carefree. The images in the bubbles are superb and really keep our attention on the frame. The shallow depth of field works so well because we can still make out clearly the girl behind.. This is a fun picture and one that will look great on the wall framed as a reminder of a lovely moment. Well done.
I do like the exclusion of the heads within this picture It allows us to concentrate on the relationship between the tow bodies in the water and on the lovely tummy of the woman. The use of black and white gives a documentary feel to the picture which works well as does the fact the photographer is in the water with them. It would have been easy to stay on the side but then we would not have the closeness and connection to the subjects. Well done.
This is a stunningly composed and well crafted photograph. The quality of the exposure is spot on and the light on the face is sublime. It's a classic side on pose and the smoke just crosses the path of light so well that it illuminates the entire scene. It takes us back to a different era and it could be a women waiting for the Orient Express. It has a real sense of old world glamour and class. Great capture.
This photograph works because of the attention to detail The tight crop allows us the audience into the frame, The photographer has come at this from the best angle allowing us the see the faces of each of the men in line. We get to see the control and unity of them in line. I love that they all look straight ahead with great determination but the camera has caught a couple off guard. It's a great photograph not easy under difficult bright lighting conditions but the photographer has controlled the scene perfectly. Well done and a proud moment for the boys and parents.
The power of football is caught almost at the top of the world in this dynamic visual image. The skyline visible only at the bottom of the frame is well placed formally and places all the attention and power of the image onto the man and ball center stage. The use of black and white eliminates a sense of allegiance to the football top he wears and we really do get a sense of the power of the game. I could see an image like this been used to promote a football tournament. Brilliant.
This picture sums up the magic of Christmas perfectly in one single frame. The close crop is essential to keep the stare of the girl into Santa's eyes at the center of this warm photograph. The candid quality only adds to the fact that we feel we are seeing something special. The shallow depth of field means the background is taken out of view so we really concentrate our attention on the wonderful expression on the little girls face. This is what Christmas means and I feel a warm and happy glow looking at this picture. Charming. Well done. It feels completely natural.
This could be straight out of a fairytale. It's a lovely capture of a group of friends happy to pose whilst offering up a candid feel to the picture. The neutral background colors work so well against the vibrant whites, pinks and browns of the dresses and these are beautifully and thoughtfully reflected in the water. The setting is dreamy and the way the photographer has got the girls to pose is very clever placing one in front of the wall. Overall this is a fantastic and well constructed and executed contemporary portrait of a group of friends. I'm sure they all want a framed copy. Lovely. Well done.
I do like the contrast between the real world tarmac against the color of the little girl holding the balloons. The darkness behind her adds a real sense of the unknown within the frame and menace. Where is she going? What is she walking towards. On a technical level it is nearly perfect, just a little more attention to detail around the balloons and bottom right corner but minor issues in relation to a powerful and intriguing photograph. Well done
The vivid colors, the unity between the two individuals and the way the photographer has used a fast shutter speed to capture the beads of water really do create a superb candid portrait of two people in the heat. The incredible warm colors and how close the camera gets to the subjects really adds drama to this scene. It's vibrant and alive and beautifully captured. It has a carnival vibe and a sense of tenderness between them both even though they are back to back. Stunning harsh directional light is very well controlled and we the audience really feel we are with them. A lovely photograph. Very well done.
This is all about the eyes and facial expression of the little girl copying the grown ups around her and looking for approval in what she is doing. It's a powerful candid portrait of a quiet moment. This picture does not shout or scream, it slowly draws us in and we are kept looking into its beauty. The tonal range is superb with great details in both the highlights and shadows and the face which is perfectly exposed. A lovely controlled and constructed photograph.
