Great composition and powerful eye contact really make this image stand out from the crowd. The use of black and white adds that documentary feel to the picture and the stunning stare of the child back to the camera is elevated with the pure whites in the eyes. This is a wonderful example of a photographer bringing so many elements together to create a stunning portrait. Not easy with so many people in shot but the close crop to only include the central figure means all our attention stays with the them. Fun and dynamic. A great capture.

This could be a postcard. Chilling on holiday. We have seen this type of image before but to get it this right really takes great timing and a wonderful eye to spot the opportunity in the first place. The camera position is perfect and the quality of light on the body just allows it to take it away from the darker background so it really stands out. The relaxed expression and the way the can just sits on his leg is fantastic. Not a care in the world and the background really makes the entire picture. Great technique and a wonderful capture.

This gives me a real sense of fun and summer all at the same time. The low camera angle really elevates the subject matter and the exposure is perfect in difficult conditions. It would have been so easy to silhouette the figure against the bright blue sky so well done to the photographer. The way the material floats behind the body with his arms stretched out works so well and creates a dynamic structure and pose. The blurs in the foreground of the flowers mean our attention is drawn to the person. Great use of light and positioning. Superb. Well done.

The photographer writes about the challenges that had to be overcome to make this stunning image and they have done an incredible job not just with the lighting which is perfect and well balanced between daylight and fill but the skill in getting the best out of the model and the positioning and formal picture making skills really are what separates this image from many similar. We see the beauty of the landscape and the slight awkwardness of the model within this space which works really well and gives us that otherworldly vibe. A really well constructed and made photograph. Superb.

We have all been here. This is such a fun photograph. Did she manage to resist. I doubt it and why not when confronted with so much delight. The photographer has caught the perfect moment when the little girl is confronted with so many options. Great facial expression and colors in the scene just add to the sugary appeal of this picture. Good use of depth of field to highlight the girl against the backdrop. Well done.

The low camera angle allows us the audience to get a real sense of the space in which the children are playing. What I love about this image is how each child seem lost in their own little space and with what they are doing. The enhanced colors work well and give a surreal sense to the scene which works perfectly with what is going on. The blue sky is an incredible background for the individuals within the frame and it feels like a film set. This is a great example of a candid style portrait where nobody is aware of the camera. Great capture.

This dark and compelling portrait works on many levels. The stare into camera, the way the boy holds his hands to close the jacket and the wonderful spotlight to the right of him just adds that extra dimension to how we read and look at this photograph. The close crop means we get to see the background but the focus is on him and the fact that he is illuminated against the dark backdrop gives a sinister feel to the image. I'm sure it's all just fun but it makes for a wonderful capture. Well done.

Wonderful camera position right in the center means all the children have equal billing in this fun and well controlled photograph. The use of colors works well and lifts the image without distracting from the wonderful facial expressions and smiles on the children's faces. This is a picture to keep and treasure as I'm sure all the children and parents will want a copy. A lovely photograph to hang on the wall.

The camera angle and positioning by the photographer really elevates this image. We get to see a birds eye view of the man looking out onto the lake but we never get the full view. Photography's power is in it's ability to tell stories and this image is a great example of that. The exposure is perfect and the saturated colors really work together from the greens to the blue of the mans jacket. We get a real sense of isolation and wonder what he is looking at and thinking about. Stunning capture.

A warm and lovely reminder of getting away and relaxing. This well controlled and exposed photograph does just that. It transports us the viewer to another place. Somewhere quiet and warm, a place to think and escape. The framing is considered and we get to see what the lady in the image is looking at. We enjoy what she is enjoying. A great capture. Well done. Wish I was there.

We get a real sense of isolation within this picture. It is very moody and asks us the audience questions to figure out what is going on in the picture. What is the woman looking at?, what is she thinking? maybe nothing but we will never know. This black and white image leaves the door open and it is up to our imagination to fill in the gaps. The soft black and white tones work well and the out of focus horizon line allows us the separate the person from the space and this is very effective. Subtle and compelling. A great environmental portrait that keeps us thinking. Well done.

A great example of fun in the sun. Superb camera positioning which highlights the space below from the beautiful cool waters to the way in which we are crammed into spaces all in the name of relaxation and enjoyment. The exposure is spot on with great detail in the highlights and water. The framing is very good as our eye moves across the scene. So much to look at that I find myself spending lots of time looking at this image. Great capture well done.

Great use of technique to give us this double surreal black and white photograph. The zooming affect has created an amazing central image with a blurred enlarged image surrounding the main face and this works really well. The use of black and white places the picture within the context of many great surrealist photographs from the 1930s which is in keeping with the idea and style. Great capture.

Sometimes photographic opportunities just present themselves but it is the sign of a very good photographer who can see them and then act quickly enough to take advantage of the situation. The quality of light on the jacket is wonderful and the warm colors work well in contrast to the grey structures in the background. The window frame does just that, frame the woman within the space and the yellow line takes our eye away from her and into the areas in front of her. A well balanced and caught candid photograph. Great timing and wonderful capture.
