This gentleman seems friendly enough but how many times have you been put off entering a shop by this type of sight. The quality of light on his face really makes him jump out of the frame and the warm glow is echoed by the gold on the door handles. The tight crop works well as the attention is placed on him. A great example of a candid street portrait. Well done.

The photographer gets into the best position front and center to make this high energy and intense image. The close crop and shallow depth of field means we focus on the man at the front and the concentration on his face. The colors of the costumes work really well against the drab greys on the street behind. An image that captures the energy of these performers really well. Great picture.

The old adage of always having a camera with with you does pay dividends. This is a lovely example of that and a stunning environmental portrait as well. The powerful high contrast black and white really adds whites into the eyes and the reflection balances out the frame really well meaning the composition is not defined by the back of the seat which really adds to the image with the patterns on it. A lovely capture. Well done

A backstory with a photograph can really enhance how we look and read a picture and this is one such image. The sense of isolation is made more aware knowing that this was taken during the Covid lock downs. The picture itself is lovely with great use of light on the girls hair and boots. The soft out of focus lake behind works really well and she is placed perfectly to the left of the frame. Only thing I maybe have changed is to make the horizon line straight? but only a very minor point on what is a great image. Well done.

This is all abut eye contact. We are not given much more in this powerful close up portrait. The use of flash has given great detail in the catch lights in the eyes and this has then lifted the details in the headscarf. The tight crop and shallow depth of field means we focus solely on her. Such a beautiful and engaging portrait. Lovely.

The colors of the umbrellas work really well against the greens of the background and this delightful and funny picture of a lady struggling with her umbrella shows great timing by the photographer. It's a great snapshot into a moment that shows humor within photography which is one of the hardest things to show because it generally is all about timing and being in the right place at the right time. Not easy and well done for this great capture.

This could be a scene out of a film such is the control and position and pose of the man central in the frame. The mixed colors of light which are coming from several sources including the lights of the 4x4 in the background work well and are very well controlled by the photographer as is the exposure which is spot on. Where is he going?, why is he applauded by those in the background. We will never know but a superb capture that really tells a story, even if it is one we have to make up. Well done.

This man has real star quality but is that down to the Hollywood bad boy image with the cigarette in mouth? The tight crop works really well and the just on the beach setting adds to how we read this picture. The shallow depth of field means we spend our time looking at him and the lack of a pose or acknowledgment of the camera adds to that paparazzi style capture. Great image.

The path leads our eye straight to the little girl then the wonderful rim light on her hair and shoulders is just lovely. The shallow soft focus of the background means we spend our time with her. The slight flair in the center works well and gives the image a glow and mood as does the use of black and white. A wonderful image of a girl on a walk to somewhere we will never know. A classic documentary style image.

Intense and impossible to look away. We will never know what the boy was thinking when this picture was taken but it has heralded a superb classic portrait. The tight crop means we focus on the boys expression and the details on his top which spell out the word love only add to the solemn expression on his face. Beautiful and complex. Well done.

I love how the little boy is mimicking the movements of the cat or it does appear like that in the picture. The text in the frame tells us where the image was taken and maybe how we then read this picture of a child on a street. Life does hopefully give us precious moments which this photographer has shown us with this sensitive capture. Well done.

It's not easy to identify an individual on the street then prepare yourself and the camera and make the best image possible. It takes split second timing. Well done to this photographer for getting this right. We see the young man who stands out from the crowd anyway because of his green hair but the shallow depth of field concentrates our focus solely on him. A great capture and example of street photography at its best.

The high contrast black and white works perfectly with the subject of the goth inspired clothes and makeup of the girl, central to the scene. The close crop again means she is central to our view and we then start to look around in the frame. Why the toilet rolls? Yes we know because we are told in the description but the fun would be in the guessing looking at the image. This strange juxtaposition really adds to the picture. Great technique that works perfectly on this subject. Well done.

A timeless classic studio portrait. The confidence of the woman really comes through and that is down to the photographer creating the right set and mood for the photo-shoot. Well done. The pose and straight to camera look again exudes confidence and the quality of light and set up can be seen in the shot and catch lights in the eyes. The tight crop works well and the choice of a plain background means we spend all our time looking at the subject. Great capture.

This is all about the expression on the mans face which is then beautifully captured in the light that falls off into the dark background. The saturated colors work well on the face and head wear and the tight crop places all the attention on him. I hear music when I look at this image and it takes me into a quiet place. A lovely image that is calming and powerful at the same time. Great capture. Well done.
