The subject, composition and quality of light really makes this image stand out from the crowd. The sharpness on the lady is superb and we are made even more aware of this with the shallow depth of field as the background gently blurs out allowing us the viewer to spend time on the details and the lady herself. The saturated colors work so well and give a natural feel to the scene. It's such a simple image but is very well balanced throughout and I can't fault it at all. A classic street portrait and I'm pleased the photographer did not get too close so we get to see the surrounding area in which the person is inhabiting. Superb.
The photographer has really positioned themselves perfectly when making this photograph. We feel we are right there in the circle with the team as no doubt the captain gives there talk in what looks like a pre-match huddle. The point of focus on the three boys looking down is well judged and the highlights are very well controlled on the tops in the foreground. The saturated colors work very well against the pale blue sky in what is a fantastic composition and image. Well done.
Such a wonderful image that looks like it has been grabbed by the photographer in a candid moment. The way that all the ladies are looking across the frame out of shot is really interesting as is the soft colors that the photographer has gone for rather than really saturating them. It works better this way. The background is busy but nothing you can do in these situations. Its a wonderful image that you should be very proud of taking. Well done.
This is a very well timed image full of visuals that take our eye to all corners of the frame. We have the murals and the eyes which seem to be looking at us the viewer, each other and the woman passing through the space. The way she walks confidently across the scene is accentuated with the flow of the red scarf and the cigarette positioned to the side of the mouth. The photographer has placed themselves perfectly to capture this image and the greys of the tarmac work well against the vibrancy of the colors elsewhere. Well done, a great capture.
This image has much to admire. The tonal quality of the black and whites within the picture are beautifully judged. The way the trees form a visual path and eye line to the center of the frame and the two people offer a sense of scale within the picture. The wonderful lines on the road that catch the highlights work really well but what really stands out and gives the image its star quality is the silhouetted father figure next to his daughter with backpack on. It's a lovely reminder that we are all on a journey and lets cherish the good times. A poignant and touching image.
A classic capture in the style of the great French street photographers, Doisneau and Cartier-Bresson. The composition of the bank with the man wonderfully placed left of center leads our eye to the water. The exposure is well controlled with a wide tonal range. The details in the hat are well controlled as it would have been easy to lose the highlights. This is a great example of a traditional documentary candid street portrait. A classic that is timeless. Well done.
The vivid colors and wonderful smile are brought to life by the quality of light on the subject and the rim light that illuminates the hair and shoulders. The warm expression on the ladies face is lovely and we can't help but smile back. The tight crop and again vivid colors on the food that frames her perfectly is well considered and controlled by the photographer. Just a warm and wonderful capture.
A stark powerful and brooding black and white portrait where the photographer has done really well to place the emphasis on the person. It would have been so easy to lose him against this wonderful vista but the positioning within the frame and the inclusion of the dog gives weight to the real star of the image. His face and pose work so well and give a sense of a man comfortable in this place. The black and white adds to the tension and the quality of light that hovers over the highlights within the landscape are perfect. Really well done.

The way the background consumes the entire picture really frames this scene wonderfully. The warm pinks and oranges are well controlled and not over saturated as to make the image feel unreal. The photographer has caught the moment perfectly and positioned themselves correctly to capture the image at the best angle, just to the side of the runners. The tight crop works so well as does the point of focus on the front runner and that wonderful expression of concentration on there face really adds to the drama of the picture. Very well done.

The photographer has shown there understanding of formal pictures by placing the subject off center allowing the background to be present within the frame and that stare takes us into and out of the image. The highly saturated colors especially the purples and blue in the tops really adds punch to the image, in what is an impressive and powerful portrait. Well done.
This was so close to my top 10. I love the vibrancy in this photograph and even though we can't see the expression on the persons face, we feel that it is carefree and living in the moment. The slight movement in the body and hair and arms adds to the sense of moving through a scene which works really well in this instance. The subtle black and white tones again work especially well against the black dress.. An evocative image. Well done.
This was close to my top 10. I love the tight crop and shallow depth of field and the fact that the men are lost in thought looking out of the frame. The use of black and white works well as does the added grain which adds to the documentary candid feel of the photograph. I would have liked to see a little more detail in the highlights of the clothes of the man on the left but this is a minor point that otherwise is a fantastic capture. Well done.
The added additions of the subtle colors really take this image into the graphic novel style of films like Sin City. They work so well against the purely black and white building in the background and the shallow depth of field means we focus on them. The gestures in the hands are lovely and the soft vignetting works very well. I would have liked to see a little more light on the faces and maybe a slightly different camera angle ahead of them could have revealed a little more of the conversation between them but these are minor points on what is a great capture and balanced image. Well done.
The photographer has shown perfect timing and positioning in order to make this fun mage, well for us the audience and the person with the hose. I cant say the people on the bike look to pleased. The subtle color palate of the blues and pinks in the background work well with the tops of the three people within the frame and the shutter speed has captured the water spray perfectly. A well timed and captured photograph. Well done.
