It feels like this was taken at a circus event. The slightly warm and muted colour palette enhances the circus vibe beautifully. The composition is strong and suggests a behind-the-scenes moment, capturing a performer deep in thought, adding a layer of authenticity to the story

Clever use of reflection and silhouette makes this an engaging, mindful, and thought-provoking portrait. The colours of the African sunrise are awe-inspiring, and the spectacular cloud inversion adds a sense of wonder and drama. A beautifully seen and realised image

Clever use of a shallow depth of field does an excellent job of blurring what looks like it could have been a very busy and distracting background. This technique, popular with portrait photographers, creates strong separation between subject and background, allowing the focus to be on the subject.

The skilful handling of light here is excellent. Shooting towards the light (contre jour) and getting the exposure right is never easy, but the resulting rim lighting adds both depth and atmosphere. The clever use of a shallow depth of field, around f/2.5, beautifully blurs the foreground and adds further depth to the composition. Strong work.

I love the use of dappled light in this engaging and dynamic portrait. The strong and vibrant colour palette works beautifully, adding energy while retaining a sense of intimacy. It is a poignant portrait that feels steeped in history, memory, and untold stories.

What a beautiful and heart-warming portrait. There’s a powerful sense of memory and reflection in this image, in part due to the clever use of actual reflections in the window to create layers. These layers naturally become metaphorical and help tell the story. Excellent black-and-white treatment too. Kudos.

The sculptural elements of this striking portrait are simply sublime. I love the connection between the limbs of the gnarled tree and the central figure, which creates a sense of harmony and tension. The use of strong shadows accentuates this beautifully and has been very cleverly observed. Excellent work.

There is something in this image that really captures the first-day-of-school blues. The title gives us the clue, but it’s the subject’s expression that really tells the story, that mix of nerves and excitement. It feels very relatable. I hope the first day went well.

There’s a lovely sense of magical storytelling in this image. The light radiating from the globe suggests a portal to another world, one the subject seems deeply engaged with. The careful control of the lighting enhances the atmosphere and has been handled with real skill.

Clever use of a slow shutter speed, around 1/20 sec, to capture the movement and energy of this basketball player in action. The sense of motion is palpable, and the minimalist composition, combined with the skilled handling of the black-and-white tones, adds strength and drama to the image.

Gosh, I love the layers in this complex portrait. The use of negative tones creates a striking graphic element, while the superimposed portraits add story, depth, and intrigue. The image title, “A Mirror Between Perspectives,” strengthens the narrative. Lovely, creative work.

I have to admit, I find the facelessness of this masked figure slightly unsettling. The balaclava makes a loaded statement, though its exact message is ambiguous. To me, it taps into the polarised politics of our time, making the image both provocative and thought-provoking.

Wow, the intensity of this striking portrait is impressive. I love that the subject’s face and penetrating gaze are placed right in the middle of the frame. The reflections in the kayak (?) are inspired and perfectly balanced in the composition. The blurred background separates the subject beautifully. Good work.

I love the controlled, sculptural use of light in this wonderfully atmospheric portrait. The subject’s closed eyes and slight tilt of the head towards the light create a quiet, introspective mood that adds a compelling sense of story. A beautifully observed image.

This is an accomplished shot. The exposure alone has been skilfully controlled. It’s very tricky to work with a white dress like this and still retain enough detail without it looking grey or muddy, but you’ve done an excellent job of managing it.
