This is a beautifully balanced portrait that the photographer has spent time on every detail. The sharp but soft light on the face as the focus slowly blurs into the background. The setting which is deliberate works well with the various shades of white and greys complementing the background and the soft pops of colors from the pillows. I'm sure the model is delighted with the result. Well done.

Wonderful positioning by the photographer taking center stage and showing great technique and timing to capture this vivid and intense close up of a cyclist in mid race. The colors stand out against the neutral background and the panning technique is superb and shows great skill and camera control. The glance back and reflections in the sunglasses works really well with the overall scene. A superb capture.

This is such a strange but visually incredible image. The camera position really adds a dynamic element to the image as does the neutral background which frames the group of people so well. The bursts of color really bring the photograph to our attention and the directions that they all look at only add to the dynamic of this unique image. Personally I would have taken the shadow out in post production in the bottom of the image but that is a minor point in what is a great capture.

The photographer has done a great job of dealing with the technical challenges involved with making images in this lighting environment. The framing is considered with the main focal point of the individual center stage looking direct to camera, the hand placed on the window is a nice visual touch whilst the flag gives us an idea where the image was taken. The camera angle works well and the light on the face elevates them from the background.. A great capture. Well done. You could also try making this Black and White which would work very well with the highlights and metallic quality of the cabin. Something to maybe consider.

A beautifully captured and controlled photograph. The photographer has very cleverly positioned the subject just behind the bright floodlight thus giving a wonderful rim light around the body and hair. The colors are well saturated and the tight crop and camera positioned low has really added to the drama which is further elevated by the players relationship to the trophy they must have just won. Pure emotion and the photographer reflected back in the trophy when you zoom in on the image is the icing on the cake. A superb sports candid image that really does tell a story. Very well done.

The tranquil setting and visual play of using a shallow depth of field both for the foreground branches and background trees have made for a fantastic setting that really frames the couple looking direct to camera on the wooden decking. The soft subtle colors and lighting works well with the natural setting and gives a feeling that the photographer has really considered how to make this image. and frame it. It may look simple but it's very well crafted and makes for a dynamic and interesting image. Well done.

A visually very interesting image that really draws us in, in a similar way to the main subject who is heading off to the light. The lighting conditions have created a powerful other worldly environment and the photographer has shown their skills in making this image work so well. The hard surface and framing of the individual works so well against the illuminated light cast in fog. The added singular color coming from the vibrant red jacket adds that pop to the image in what is a great capture. Well done.

The secret to making a great portrait of children is often about getting down to their eye level so that we see things as they do. The photographer has done just that in creating this stunning image of a child taking a break from the phone to make eye contact with the camera. The soft natural colors work well in this scene and the sharp focus on the eyes really draws us in. Well done. Lovely.

The low camera position looking up to the individual as they look back at us the audience creates a really intimate environment that perfectly sets the scene in this great urban portrait. The colors of the models clothes perfectly complement the graffiti around the walls and stairs. The soft out of focus background works so well as each step blurs more and more as our attention finally reaches the top of the stairs. A great capture. Well done.

This was so close to my top 10 and a great image it is. The use of vibrant colors against a monochromatic background works well and highlights the yellow jacket the young child is wearing whilst allowing us to also enjoy the full rainbow that leaps over the fence and house perfectly. A great capture and a photograph that would look great printed and framed and placed within a family home. Well done.

An absolute classic portrait in the National Geographic style. The three - quarter length crop gets everything in we need and the arms create an interesting formal dynamic. The subtle and true colors work well and give a natural feel to the photograph whilst the exposure is spot on and the choice of a simple background with the flower pot to the bottom right which echos the flowers on the subjects clothes is lovely. The warm expression back to camera tells us she was happy to be photographed. A stunning portrait which I'm sure will do well in future competitions.

The photographer really shows there technical and visual skills in this one image. The casting and lighting are spot on and work very well against the black background. The exposure is very well controlled and the framing cannot be faulted. It works very well. This is a photograph that is a showcase piece for the photographers ability in dealing both with people and composition and they have excelled in both. Congratulations a great capture.

Powerful and full of dignity and emotion. This stunning black and white portrait gives us a glimpse into the subject. The hard tonal range works well with the subject and the details in the sky held beautifully, really allow the individual to stand out and this has been heightened by the shallow depth of field used. The sharpness on the face really allows us the audience to move in and see his life displayed within the wrinkles and that knowing look straight to camera is wonderful. A well controlled and made portrait. A classic that I cannot fault. Great image. well done.

A stunning and visually beautiful image of a new born baby in the hands of the family. The cropping and framing could not be bettered and the use of black and white is classic and works so well in making this a timeless image for the family. A great keepsake. Really well done. Lovely.

The photographer has found the perfect position in which to make a fantastic portrait of a performer getting ready. We get the best view in the house and the clever way the focus is on the face in the mirror really draws our attention to the scene. The sharp eye looking back on itself is wonderful and the dark background with the illuminated branches work so well against the vivid orange of the individuals make up. The small red shape in the background really stands out and adds so much to the image even though it is not central to the picture. A great candid portrait. Well done.
