I love how this photograph opens up questions around gender and identity. There is a subtle sense of performance that echoes the spirit of Cindy Sherman (and others), who used the camera to challenge and play with shifting ideas of identity. This image feels alive to that same curiosity. I would love to see more from this project.
I love the confidence of this bold composition. It takes a steady nerve to include so much green foliage with the protagonist held small and central, yet it works beautifully. I like the message about our relationship with nature running through the image, which gives the photograph a thoughtful resonance.

Welcome to Photocrowd’s ‘People’ contest for New Joiners! These contests are a chance for new members to introduce their photography to the community, and get a taste of how Photocrowd contests work. They can be entered by anyone within their first 28 days of joining Photocrowd. After 100 images have been submitted the contest closes and the Crowd will start rating the images. The Expert Judge will also be judging the images and writing reviews at the same time. All the winners, both Crowd and Expert, will be announced after 3 days of judging. Make sure you also check out our two other New Joiners contests - ‘Animals’ and ‘Landscapes’.
What a beautiful and sensitive portrait. The careful handling of tone gives it an ethereal quality that suits the subject well. The long form approach, made over several days in the Indian school, brings a quiet depth to the work. It feels like the beginning of a project with real promise, and I would love to see more from it.

The angst in the portrait comes through in the performative gesture of the subject, which gives the image energy. The black and white tonality is handled with care and carries that energy. It would have been helpful to have more information in the caption rather than only a link to your site. Otherwise, this is top-notch work.
