This is the very essence of New Zealand and a fantastic Image to boot. You are drawn to so many parts of this picture, the trees in partial silhouette almost lifelike in a procession up and over the hill, the sun basking the image in a brilliant solar shower of light. The morning mist burning off it's a wonderful capture and well deserved first place Congratulations Tarquin Shaw-Young FEAA

Whenever I'm in New Zealand I always find a piece of art that truly blows me a away - This is one of those simple and effective pieces - The New Zealanders and extremely respectful of those men who fought in WW1 and Wellington has some amazing monuments and museums that pay tribute - This image merges the old New Zealand with the new but very much -gone but not forgotten' Great discovery and excellent capture Congratulations Tarquin Shaw-Young FEAA
My all time favourite bird the Kea - I wrote a children's book set in the Marlborough Sounds Captain Kiwi & The Possum Pirates which has a Kea as a central character having first come across them in Arthur's Pass and Avalanche Peak - These are magnificent creatures with an amazing rainbow coloured plumage - resourceful, artful, cunning and friendly - they'll unpack a rucksack from your boot and steal it if it's not nailed down - Nature's scavenger - A brilliant capture of a Kea surveying his domain seeing where his next mark will be. Congratulations Tarquin Shaw-Young FEAA
I couldn't not include this shot - much of the re-building in Christchurch's central domain is still now in ruins - the Cathedaral such a focal point where the 'Wizard' used to preach outside. We see the rebuild in the distance - the modern structures almost growing a fresh and the boarded up shell of a place of worship Great emotive capture Congratulations Tarquin Shaw-Young FEAA
Having done many walks across New Zealand, staying in Backpackers, Mountain huts and lodges - it's great to see a weathered functional building - proudly perched with a wonderful seascape vista. I love the typical outback corrugated rusting roof and the grassy tundra surrounding it. Very New Zealand Congratulations Tarquin Shaw-Young FEAA
A much photographed building - made all the better with the astro photography giving it a very spiritual feel and showing those magnificent constellations that are so amazing to see without the light pollution - The Stars seem the very source of illumination of the church Congratulations Tarquin Shaw-Young FEAA
Nothing sums up New Zealand quite like the signature of a Whale's Tail - te tohorā And if you are going to see a whale in NZ this is the place to see it - perfect capture with what looks like the Kaikoura mountains in the distance Wonderful capture ticking all theboxes Congratulations Tarquin Shaw-Young FEAA
Having been here at dawn as countless people do, making that early morning pilgrimage from one of the glaciers - there is a hope that you will be party to the beauty of 'The Reflection Lake' and not see it hidden - I remember I arrived and it was shrouded in mist and then as if by magic the sun appeared and burnt of the morning mist to reveal this very image that you have captured - magnificent Congratulations Tarquin Shaw-Young FEAA
