Old Churches Around The World

This image struck me immediately. The detail in the shot is captured very well and the perspective is great. I am not sure whether the birds were really there at the right time or if they were superimposed but either way they have created the sound of the beat of wings and the startled flight of birds in an echoing alley very clearly in my mind. I cannot help hearing it and this, for me, is what photography is about - to capture an image and bring the sounds alive, whether those sounds are silence or the flutter of birds.

The age of this church has been perfectly captured at an interesting perspective. The stormy atmosphere surrounding the ruins adds to the feeling of inrigue, mystery and age. I love how the textures on both the graves and the church have been captured. The slight haziness along the edges of the building creates a dream-like sensation.

The peace and tranquility of this church and surroundings have been perfectly captured in your image. Despite the snow on the ground the lamp provides such warmth that it draws your eye in to the church beyond. This image feels magical and undisturbed. I love it.

This is one of the images that I love for the sound that it creates in my mind when I look at this photo. The additional rain that has been superimposed adds tremendously to the atmosphere in this shot. I can feel and hear the rain and the capture pulls me forward to seek refuge under the arches.

This is such an interesting capture. The horizontal lines on this cathedral draws the eye along the main wall and then pulls the focus up onto the steeple and into the sky. A beautiful and striking effect by capturing at this angle.

This is a unique perspective. The image is natural and creates a feeling of a secret church being discovered. There is a sense of peace surrounding the church and the graves. The age has been perfectly captured. I suspect that there may be a resident ghost here!

This is a picture perfect ‘postcard’ shot! I love the rich contrast of the simple church building against the bright green of the surroundings. A simple perspective and capture but a very effective one. All elements in this shot work well together to create a beautiful image.

I love the contrasting dark of the trees and brightness of the snow. I can feel the chill in the air and I can hear the creak of the gate on its hinges. There is a magical element to this image that makes me feel that is should be found in Godricks Hollow from Harry Potter! A lovely natural shot.

The history and age of this cathedral is captured perfectly in this image. There is stunning depth to the aisle with rich colors and textures surrounding on either side. The cross at the top and centre pulls the eye upwards. Beautiful!

This steeple is so imposing! I think this image captures the height so well and the perspective creates a feeling of reaching out to touch heaven. A lovely shot with good detail and color. Very nicely done and well positioned!

This image portrays, for me, everything that a church embodies - old stonework, archways, steeple, gothic style cross and nature surrounding a place symbolising tranquility and peace. The green compliments the stonework and the blue sky provides a lovely contrast for the eye. A beautiful, naturally captured image. Well done!

This is an incredible shot! It intrigues me so much. The perspective creates the allusion of the church being completely dwarfed by not only large buildings but also modernisation. It gives the impression of being a scale-model of a church in a diorama rather than an actual life-size church.

The peace and serenity of this quaint little church is perfectly captured in this natural shot. I love the graves in the foreground in the shadow of a tree and then the church being highlighted in sunlight in the background. This image makes me want to spread a blanket down on the ground and absorb the tranquility.

The perspective of this image is majestic. The position of the cross at the left of the photo creates good balance and draws you onto 'the straight and narrow' of the path leading to the church. The church, being positioned at the top of the frame, emits a holiness and peace that draws you in. The black and white conversion is beautiful, but would love to see it in color as well.
