On the Road

I love the combination of majestic, remote location and human habitation - how we live all over the world and adapt to its geography is a fascinating aspect of travel photography. Communicating what it feels like to be somewhere is a skill, and this image does brilliantly - I can feel how cold it is, as if I can almost see my breath freezing in the air, and how warm it would be to be inside one of those little wooden red houses. A beautiful and insightful photograph.

A fabulously authentic image of life in another country. The photographer is showing us a wonderful moment of meeting and sharing a meal with a real family on his/her travels; a moment to treasure, but also one which makes us feel as if we have met this family too, and drunk a few too many glasses of vodka... I feel that all I need to know now is who was he toasting!
