I love everything about this image - the stunning use of light and shadow to bring so much more to this classic pose. The subject and composition compliment each other so well here, and what first appears to be an understated image is actually anything but. A beautiful, well thought and well executed image - well done!

Congratulations on winning the One Single Female Dancer Competition. The contrast here is subtle, and doesn't need to be anything more - the Photographer has made perfect use of subject, composition and tone to bring out her back muscles,. brought about by an unconventional yet still statuesque and almost Art Deco pose. An absolutely stunning image - well done!

Meet the judge

I love the initial simplicity of this image - the bold red dress against a white background leaving no choice for the viewer but to look closer, and upon doing so, we are rewarded with a beautiful pose - the dancer's body works perfectly with the dress to pick out her figure and create this fantastic composition. This is a great image - well done!

A very clever, sincere image - the photographer has given us a sweet and genuine moment of joy, the subject being oblivious to the people in the foreground watching her. Ordinarily, I would say that a candid shot like this would work better in black and white, but not here. Well done!

I really enjoy the nature and symmetry that the photographer has given us here. The subject is making the water dance beneath her, and the strength it is taking her to do so shows in the definition of the muscles in her back and shoulders. A well executed portrayal of strength and grace - well done!

A simple understated image which achieves exactly that the photographer wanted to portray through the clever use of light, understated background and subject. This is another image which stood out for me because of the slightly unconventional pose which focuses on the underlying strength and flexibility required to demonstrate grace and poise. a worthy top 10 image ¡Bien hecho!

A beautifully thought out montage. The composition is spot on with the dancer placed perfectly, and the outfit brings drama and storm to otherwise calm waters and really makes this image stand out from some of the other images of dancers against bodies of water. A great image - well done!

This was one of my favourite images. The photographer has captured the grace of this dancer through delicate colour and movement, yet the subject looking straight at the viewer also radiates a steely confidence in her own skill, and the eye is drawn in from any point in the image to her face. A very clever and beautiful portrait - well done!

I love this shot - it's nice to see a street shot; unposed, the subject dancing without a care like nobody is watching despite the other people. I love the spontaneity and the clever use of contrast and composition to make her the star of this image. Well done!
