To me this is an unusual image of a tree but extremely striking.. Perhaps it's the slightly unusual angle and the way the tree stands out from the grey background, presumably the slope of a hillside. The softness of the colour tones are pleasant and the wooden hut standing by the tree just adds that something extra.. My one wish is that the tree had not been cropped so tightly with a little more to the height and width of the image.
A wonderful evocation of winter and although there are other trees in the background the eye goes immediately to the tree in the foreground. The way the tree is leaning towards the other trees is an additional bonus. There is a mistiness to the picture which adds to the feeling of the cold in winter. A fabulous image.
There is an almost ethereal feel to this wonderful image as well as a painterly one. The colour palette in editing has enhanced that feel. The arch of the branches is almost like a doorway leading deeper into the wood. One small point is that perhaps the sepia effect is a little too strong but like so many other things in judging that is only a personal view.
A beautiful landscape taken on a perfect day which captures the tranquillity of the scene. Yes there is lots to look at apart from the tree but it's position against the sky draws our eye to it. it makes one want to be there sitting quietly and enjoying the beauty in front of our eyes. My one point is that perhaps there is too much of the foreground grass and the tree to the left showing.
This is almost a surreal picture and I wonder what was involved in any editing done to it. The golds of the small tree and the way the light strikes it among the greys and blacks makes it stand out. One almost feels as if we are rooting, pardon the pun, for the small birch tree's survival among the giants of the forest. Congratulations to the photographer for creating such a memorable picture.
I love the high resolution given to this image and the birds sitting on the branches adds to the scene. The fact that little else is seen apart rom the tree lets us concentrate fully on that. I I had been lucky enough to spot this image I would have put the tree to the left of the picture leaning in to the middle but that is purely a personal feeling. All in all a fantastic picture.
