I love the efect created when a subject is captured filling ths entire frame, and this wonderful example earns a well deserved top ten placing. There is no obvious focal point, but that does not matter in a shot such as this, as the eye can wander around the frame looking at the similarities and differences across each individual element. Control of the white balance of the scene has enabled the carrots to retain their natural colour, which can so often be lost when one colour fills the frame, often tricking the camera to compensate by throwing in some unwanted hues. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.
A beautiful still life image, capturing the delicate undersides of these interesting mushrooms. The soft pinky orange is lovely, and the gentle lighting has allowed the textures of the long gills to be clearly visible, without any temptation to ramp up the clarity or contrast which would have lost the delucate structures. Lovely image, well done on your top ten placing.
A plethora of orange foods in this wonderful street capture, of the cook preparing a variety of fried foods to be sold, no doubt, to appreciative people out in the streets. Lighting of ths scene is great, looking to be coming through a window or door off to the side, illuminating the scene just enough to allow us to look around the kitchen and appreciate all there is to explore. I love the positioning of the human subject; well into the frame with bags and trays of food filling ths foreground. Congratulations on your third place finish.
The lovely lighting and rich orange hues make this my winning image. Looking to be naturally lit from behind has created a beautiful effect, making these orange citrus fruits look natural and tempting. The wide aperture has thrown thd background nicely out of focus, putting full focus on the subject with a dreamy bokeh effect behind. The arrangement of ths fruit is simple but effective, with the piled fruit giving height and the lone fruit to the side giving balance to ths shot. Congratulations on your winning image.
A wonderfully detailled capture of the clementine peeled and ready to eat. Looking to be captured in a studio setup had allowed full control over the lighting and exposure time etc, and the small aperture has allowed sharp focus throughout the subject. I especially like the textural destils captured in the inner skin and on the segments. Composition works well, and the physalis fruits in the foreground add interest but also balance the composition. Congratulations on your second place finish.
