The eye contact and expression in this image make it arresting and we were instantly drawn to it. In essence, it's a very simple portrait, but everything is done well, from the choice of location/orientation to get the light right to the careful focus and great use of shallow depth of field.

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of images of people in period clothes, but this shot is done so well and it looks so real, that it's captured my attention. The blurring of the raindrops adds to the feeling of authenticity and your processing matches the scene perfect;y. Angela

There's something very melancholy about this image that appeals to me. I love the subdued colours and the flat light along with the boy's deadpan expression. The glasses and scarf suggest he's been having some fun, or perhaps they are just to add interest to the image. Angela

Whatever he's been up to, he doesn't look happy that he's been stopped midway to have his portrait taken. Great look, outfit and surroundings that capture the personality of the subject in a single moment. Alastair

This is a great portrait that really shows the effort and personality of the subject. The attire and marking on his arm show that he's been putting his all into the competition. A great outdoor portrait that shows how simplicity can be so powerful.

There is so much to like about this image. The subjects are fascinating. The background is about as great a sunset as you can get, with lovely reflections on the water. And the exposure must have been incredibly tricky with that bright background. Well done.

We've seen similar photos of these cattle and herdsmen before, but this is so well composed and framed. Very clever. We also like the muted colour palette and how the sky blends into the cows' coats. This is a very well executed image.

It looks like the subject is having fun at a colour run. The image is well-captured with the paint powder frozen in action so that it looks like an amazing mane of hair. The lighting and exposure add to the drama.

A lot of work has gone into this image and it pays off, making it stand out from the crowd. Whether fake or real, your choice of background is excellent and the model's pose, along with the billowing of her skirt add a sense of drama.

What a stunning image. There is so much to look at here, and so much to ponder. The exposure isn't perfect, but in a way that makes it work even more. There is so much detail and so much to consider here. You could spend days talking about this picture.

I love the lighting in this image and the black backdrop really works. Normally I like a bit of environmental context in a portrait, but this works so well with the low key lighting and emphasis on her bright eyes and powerful expression. Jeff

There is something both 1980s and futuristic about this image. I love how big the subject is placed within the frame, and there are lots of nice details, from the neon signs on the left and their reflections in her glasses, to the beautiful bokeh in the background. Superb. Jeff

Your composition is quite unusual but it works very well in this instance. The girl looks to be deep in thought while the patches of light beyond suggests that she's outside somewhere sunny, perhaps a park to play. It's an image that asks you to fill in the gaps.

What a superb environmental portrait! Your framing and composition are great and you've caught your subject at a key point so we can see what he's up to. His expression is also good, we're instantly drawn to him and he seems likeable.

There's a feeling of achievement about this portrait. You can see the background fog, rocks and effort the climber/walker must have exerted in order to get to the location. However, it doesn't look like he had much of a view.

This is a superb image but reading the story behind it gives it greater meaning and it seems like a metaphor for the way we've all felt at some point over the last 18 months. It works very well in black and white as it emphasises your daughter's eyes.
