Peaceful (in colour)

This gorgeous scene pulls off a challenging composition with technical expertise. I love the long shutter speed resulting in the soft ocean, yet the detail remains in the darker areas. The setting sun and the lights in the buildings remind us that the day is done and it is time to rest. Well done, and congratulations on your Top 10 in Peaceful!

After reviewing all the wonderful photos in this contest, this peaceful scene stayed with me the most. There were many lovely entries, including the themes of water reflections, sunrises and sunsets, and landscapes. All give a sense of peace. However, now you can find me sitting on this bench (in my mind, at least) and enjoying the peace of the flowers, bushes and trees. Congratulations on First Place in Peaceful!

The Pacific coast of the U.S. has some remarkable scenes, and this one of Big Sur is captured beautifully. The long shutter speed blurs the water along with the scattered clouds, yet the subject of the rock formation is pin sharp. Congratulations on your Top 10 in Peaceful!

Water scenes were very popular in this contest, and rightly so as they are very calming and peaceful. However, this captures just water in all its calming magnificence.... the abstract view of the waves, while the crest is pin sharp. Well done, and congratulations on your Top 10 in Peaceful!

There were fewer waterfall entries in this contest than I expected, but this one is perfect. The long shutter speed blended the water seamlessly while the viewers eye goes from the fern at the bottom all the way up to the trees effortlessly. Everything but the water is pin sharp, and the moss and autumn leaves on the wet stones show how moist everything is. Beautifully done, and congratulations on your Top 10 in Peaceful!
