It was a pleasure to make my selections for this New Joiners 'People' contest, and in particular when the winning image is as strong as this one. It's a faultless studio portrait of a minister local to the photographer who wanted his portrait taken in an old-style religious outfit before he retired. The lighting is perfect, and has a suitably heavenly feel to it, the pose and the look upwards are just great, and the post-processing has been handled very skilfully, allowing one's attention to be very naturally guided to our main subject. I'm sure the minister was absolutely delighted with this record of his time as a man of the cloth.
