Back in the 80s (70s?) when fibre optic cables like this were considered a new technology, they were used more often in shots to symbolise high tec. It's not so common nowadays, but this is a nice usage of them to provide some interest in the shot, and subtle lighting on the model's face. The shot is possibly a little too weighted towards the elft handside, but otherwise a solid and appealing image.
A portrait for our times, and a character in full respirator mask in Trafalgar Square, London. Like many good documentary portraits it asks more questions than it answers, and makes one wonder who he is, and how he's thinking about the pandemic times that we're living through. The wider context provided to the shot, with the buildings and streets of Trafalgar Square in the background, is good addition.
A fabulous black and white documentary shot, and my winner in this New Joiners 'People' contest. The various constituent shapes and tones in the image sit together brilliantly, and the swing going in the opposite direction fills that side of the shot well. I love the laid back enjoyment of the child, head back, enjoying the ride. Congratulations!
