Thanks for sharing this image. I appreciate the composition, with the frame being filled by the lines of brush, and the feeling of being immersed in the actions of this work. The focus on the window and not the subject gives a nice abstract feel, even if it means we can just about see your reflection I think?! Congratulations on highly commended.
Thank you for sharing this image. I found myself particularly drawn to it. The composition includes interesting details and context, and my eye travels easily around the frame taking it all in, helped by triangles and lines with the scene. The dramatic moment of the hand gesture is wonderfully captured - I can imagine the natural pause whilst waiting for the scales to weigh the produce and I get a strong sense of the personality of the stallholder. He appears to be in confident and characterful authority in his own work environment. I appreciate the strong colour palette and the toning. It's an authentically visually rich image that made me linger. The baby wipes made me smile. Congratulations.
Thank you for sharing this image which immediately stood out for me. I get such a strong sense of the manual work here - the weight on the subject's back, the climb with effort still to come as shown by the raised bare right foot, and possibly the heat of the day too. The toning and the composition are strong and clean. Congratulations.

Thank you for sharing this image. I'm struck by the scale of the job at hand as captured in the composition, and the size of the team needed to work there, together with the camaraderie of the team at work in their three groups of three. The energy of their expressions matches the energy of the sand being thrown in the air and the uniform colours harmonising with the sand add to the sense of harmony at work. Congratulations on top ten.

Thank you for sharing this image which made me smile immediately. I love how at first glance it appears to be a human to human style of interaction, and then a beat later the full picture takes shape. I feel that the subtle toning adds to this - the image is strong without shouting. The composition gives a beautiful mirroring between the two subjects, the man seeming to be totally relaxed and at home working with a potentially dangerous animal. Congratulations on top ten.

Portraiture is often seen as a way to show someone’s true nature, or at least some aspect of it, but portraits or documentary imagery in the workplace are not necessarily as straightforward. Within that context what is being shown of the subject? On a practical level it might give insight into what their work is, and where they spend their time, but to what extent does that context also add to our cloud our understanding of the individual? We have all had that experience of working somewhere that we feel constrains us and stifles our ‘real’ personality.
Thank you for sharing this image which jumped right out at me. The choice of shutter speed captures the frame-filling detail of the grass in the air rather than the movement of the aircraft. This, and the beautiful visual separation of the heads above the ground and below the wheels, makes me focus on the effect the aircraft has on the people at work around it. I feel the tucking in of their heads as I imagine the noise and the feeling in the air around them. I appreciate the aperture, as the blurring of the people in the foreground draws me visually into the image through them and towards the grass detail, emphasising the viewers' connection with their position. The moment has great drama and the toning adds to this with the strong back and white contrast. I personally like the anonymity of the people in this image as I feel it reflects something of the potential general anonymity of those in a services role. Congratulations.

Thank you for sharing this image. I appreciate its originality as a birth story image and as a capture of a different side of medical work. the concentration of both people at the pre-op admin stage feels intense and emphasis the gravity of the work to come. The composition allows for details and context of the moment. Congratulations on highly commended and on your daughter!
Thank you for sharing this image. The light is wonderful and is expertly exposed. I love the composition and the moment, showing the hands reaching up through a line of sight with the brick being thrown down, giving an overall feeling of teamwork which is appropriate for the type of work captured. Congratulations on highly commended.
Thank you for sharing this image. It's visually beautiful and arresting. I'm drawn to the contrast of the two tribe members; the youngest holding a young animal and the eldest holding a gun, whilst working with animals of different sizes. Their expressions, body language and their grip on both the animal/gun and the sticks they hold, show a stark difference in confidence in their roles. Congratulations.
Thank you for sharing this image. I find the composition very interesting and story-rich, using deep visual layers. I get a sense of how far the subject may have travelled, and a sense of the work in simply climbing the last few steps. The sense of isolation is interesting too. I find myself draw in to wanting to know more about the story here. Congratulations.
Thank you for sharing this image which stood out for me immediately. It's a beautiful graphic capture. The depth of field and the exposure work together to give an impactful front human layer (with the pleasing small details of the plants on the ground), followed by gradually fading away natural landscape layers. The colour in between adds depth to the layers. The composition is perfectly placed to show the profile of the subject. I appreciate the moment, with the thumb paused mid scroll, and I imagine that directions are being checked. I get a strong sense of the responsibility of the job and the care taken with it. Congratulations.
Thank you for sharing this image which I felt was a very strong interpretation of the brief, especially including the reference to gold in your title. I appreciate the composition - the graphic elements and the lines of sight - and the unsettling viewing of the subject slumped in a spot of golden light as the eye travels through the darkness of the path. Congratulations.
Thank you for sharing this image which is striking and unexpected, and which made me smile! My eye stays with the image, travelling along along the composition lines between the two subjects, trying to make sense of why and how there is a donkey's face at street level The eye contact from both subjects adds to the absurdity and the impact and I see the faintest hint of a smile from the man. I appreciate the exposure and toning and the colour palette, but you had me at the donkey.
Thank you for sharing this image which I felt was a brilliant capture of work in public. Technically, we can clearly see the levels of story, with the handler and the walruses nicely separated and the fish in the middle showing the connection - the activity - between them. The crowd is then distorted slightly by the glass, emphasising their mass and their separation from the action. I would have personally liked just a little straightening but nonetheless this is an exceptional composition which contextualises people at work in a visually interesting way to include the capture of audience - without the audience the job wouldn't exist. Congratulations.
Thank you for sharing this image. I love this composition and the idea of representing a break from work. The dirt under the fingernails while holding what's left of a sandwich is a lovely detail. I like the relaxed stance in the hands which adds to the overall feeling of taking a break. Technically, I would have liked the image to be a little sharper on the upper hand and the sandwich as it's the detail here which really makes the image. Congratulations on highly commended.
