People Dressed as Storybook or Movie Characters

This is a great capture. I love the action and drama in this shot. It looks like a frame from a movie film. The facing horse's head is up and the mane indicates movement. The dust clouds also suggest movement. The lovely green ribbon is waving and takes center stage. You even managed to catch a great smile on the knight's face. Beautiful shot.

This is a beautiful portrait straight from the pages of A. C. (Ann) Crispin's book.The lighting and smoke make it a truly special photo. I love the expression on the actor's face and the details you can see on his palm. Personally, think the background is a bit too bright for the shot. You might try to add a vignette or even darken the entire background. Alternatively, you could crop out some of the background to draw more attention to the pirate and less to the ship.. Altogether a fun shot that is totally in character with the book and movie.

Star Wars characters, and in particular, Storm Troopers were a popular subject in this contest. But this entry stopped me in my tracks. The pose itself is enough to command attention. But you absolutely nailed this shot. It just goes to show that when the lighting is right, and the focus is spot on, you don't need any special effects. I love the framing and everything else about this entry. Great job.

Great idea for a unique portrait. It must have been loads of fun to shoot. Willie Wonka's costume is amazing. I love the plain rich curtain backdrop with nothing to distract from the bright lollipop. I would like to see the lollipop just a hair lower to give a bit more space for Willie's face. You might experiment with cropping. I am not sure if it was the length of the photo or the watermark in corner or a combination of the two, but my eyes were drawn away from the subject and to the bottom corner. I highly commend this photo.

This whimsical portrait caught my eye immediately. It is SIMPLICITY AT ITS BEST! I love the costume with its crisp clean lines, contrasting colors and exaggerated muscles. The essential props of pipe and a can of spinach add just the right extra-special touch and the expression on your one-eyed sailor man is spot on. The placement of the character in the center of the frame and the sailor's pose add balance and. harmony while keeping the shot visually appealing. I personally found the spots and light line on the right side of the background a bit distracting. but that could be easily removed. Overall, this is a very appealing photograph. Well done.

I was blown away by the quality of entries in this contest. Having said that, it was attention to details that made this entry stand out from the rest of the entries. The costume is exquisite as is the background. The hair and make-up are perfect. The silver teapot and china cup add interest without overwhelming the shot. I couldn't tell what you used in the pot, (salt, sand?) but it photographed well. Simple lighting and crisp focus work with every detail to complete the package. I wouldn't add or remove a thing.
