People Taking Risks

A surreal image which could easily be the cover of some horror book. Getting the exposure right on fire is tricky but the photographer has got it just right, allowing us to clearly see the flames and the figure of the woman undergoing the risk.

I chose this as my first choice as I find it amusing. The guy showing off and the passing girl with an expression that seems to say 'I am not that impressed.' The timing of the picture is good in that we can see both the man on the railing as well as the cyclist. The blue sky also lends itself to making the man and his red shorts pop out.

A very dramatic image frozen expertly by the photographer. One would love to see how he landed, hopefully safely. One suggestion would be from a personal point of view is that the picture was rotated slightly to the right but that is just my opinion.

This again is a dramatic picture helped by the fact that the figures are in silhouette and the time of day it was taken at, the fiery orange sky adding to the drama The one figure jumping into the sea is nicely balanced with the three figures at the top of the cliff.

The timing of this picture is excellent. It captures perfectly a moment in this surfer's experience riding the wave. I like the square format and the colour palette allow us to clearly see the surfer coming off his board. A super surfing image.

I like the fact that the photographer decided to make this a black and white picture. It tells of a dramatic moment in this rodeo. The fact that the bull is in the centre with the men at each side gives the picture balance. The edit darkening the foreground and the background helps greatly in making the main participants stand out.

Such a minimalistic picture but the patterns of lines in the snow that previous skiers have created gives the image almost a modern abstract painterly effect. But the inclusion of one skier following one of the lines makes the image complete.

A perfect capture of the red devils. The photographer was lucky in the sky that day as it adds texture to the image along with the smoke coming from the jets. I think the photographer has made an excellent choice in the positioning of the planes nearer the bottom of the image with the trails above.

What makes this photograph for me is the way the shadow is cast on the background making the image have a good balance. The lack of colour makes the red background stand out allowing the shadow to be clear. The photographer has clearly waited for such a moment to get the picture.

Caught at a perfect moment. For such a dynamic moment the image is very sharp and I love the expression on the man's face as he goes up vertically. The plainish background helps the subject stand out as does the fact the jet ski is red.
