This is a stunning photo that captures the essence of this contest flawlessly. What a pose! You have perfectly frozen the action here, in a nice open contrasting scene that compliments the dark fur of the subject. Getting a sharp photo of this action is quite difficult at the speed this dog appears to be going! I am impressed with pulling that off, as well as the perfect exposure and composition to boot.

I think what draws me in the most about this photo is the absolute concentration on the dog's face- what an expression! Between those round eyes, pointed alert ears, and slight parted lips, this dog certainly means business! I also love the atmosphere of the weather, the texture of the wet log, and the beautiful out of focus greenery of the backdrop. Altogether this is a fantastic portrait.

Flint is a wonderful subject! I am drawn in by the texture of his fur, the wispy hairs, floppy ears, and droopy whiskers. I enjoy how he stands out against the background. Capturing locomotion in this subject must have been quite a challenge and I quite enjoy the result here.
