**Open to photographers with a ranking outside the Top 1000. There are two other 'Plastic Pollution' contests currently open to other ranks. Take a look at the leaderboard for more information on Photocrowd rankings.** Plastics made from fossil fuels are just over a century old, but in that time have become ubiquitous, and used in every aspect of our lives. But their disposal is happening at a rate that is overwhelming the world’s ability to deal with it, with around 40% of plastics still being single-use. Plastic pollution is a major environmental concern that is rapidly rising up the political agenda, and in this contest we’ll take a photographer’s view of the issue. This contest forms part of a series that we’ll be running during 2021 that will focus on both the problems that our environment is currently facing, and the solutions that are emerging to help us tackle them.
